Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have a large collection of freewheels, mostly 5 and 6 speed, if you want to go retro.

I had it in a really high gear as in pedaling really fast and it was constantly skipping. When I shifted to a lower gear it was going better, but if I really mashed down 90 percent of the time it would skip until I let off of it.

Im gunna look at the rear derailer tomorrow make sure it’s still straight, but i have no clue how it would have gotten so badly out of whack with my just cleaning the chain, and cassette.
Perhaps cable tension could be adjusted.

that’s possible but how would I make that work on the wheel? I was thinking about just putting my friends single speed on to it til i can get the new group set, but not sure if that would work either.

lol I rode Fri morning at 5am. Forecast said 47F but Ave temp for our 2hr ride was 36F and that includes the 72F starting temp from inside my house.

I was underdressed with just a midweight long sleeve jersey, wind vest, shorts with thermal tights over top, wool socks, toe covers and long fingered gloves. Post ride Coffee was especially welcome.

Puppy Love got a qualifying score (aka a “pass”) in her Hunt Test today with her mini wirehaired dachshund bracemate. They did really well, worked together, it was beautiful to see. They took the full 30 min to convince the judges. My almost stepping on two rabbits hidden in the grass definitely helped. This happened with only about a minute to spare. The dogs had been trailing a scent line, took it into a tree and were figuring things out in there. I came around the other side of the tree, popped the rabbits, one of which bolted into the tree. High drama ensued but the rabbit made it safely into its hidey hole and the dogs passed their test. That’s Puppy Love’s first of three legs she needs towards her Senior Hunting Hound title. There’s no more Hunt Tests in California, Nevada, Washington, or Arizona until next Dec. BUT I just learned a test got permitted in Utah over Easter weekend. There goes that TT, Utah here we come. Two tests and Puppy Love’s bracemate will be going too.

Then she ran with a pack of smooth mini dachshunds who needed a 4th dog for the day. Within the first minute of the test, Puppy Love found a rabbit, got the other dogs going and even made way for the odd man out dog so he could get in and work too. Then off they went to demo some trailing chops, Puppy Love flushed a rabbit out of a tree and all four of them sniffed their way along the rabbits trail. Sweet. First passing score for the dogs of that pack. Puppy Love didn’t gain anything with that pass, she was just helping out her fellow Hounds.

Oh yeah and she had tons of fun playing fetch in the parking lot while waiting to run. And she won a skunk squeaky toy. Perfect day from her perspective. Except for the stinging nettles.

I think I need to change my setting. Apparently you have to "opt out" of getting "special email offers" so the default is you get them.

edit: I just went in and changed my setting. I hope that works.

Huh. I know that I got that email recently, so I just checked my settings. I have "Receive Email from Administrators" checked, but I do *not* have "Receive our newsletter and special promotions from our partners" checked... yet I still get those newsletters and promotions. I guess I've gotta uncheck 'em all.

I have a couple that I stopped using even though only partly worn. I also have a few that I got from either ScamBay and/or friends who moved up to 11s.

I inherited hoarding tendencies from my father. I am not nearly as bad as him, thankfully. Even so, it drives mrs datlas nuts.

can I use a 10 speed with my 9 speed set up. I understand I wouldn’t be able to use one of the gears. I’m asking in candv to see if anybody has a 9 speed.

Can't really use 10s with 9s the spacing is different. But as I said you should be able to get a used 9s cassette for cheap.
