Disc Brake question

I have a MTB that I switched the top end(bars/levers) to road mode. The question I have is since it has canti brakes(not V), would Avid mechanical discs work with canti levers? If not, what are the options for low low cost aero bar compatible levers since this is the city budget bike...

The nice MTB has Deore 525 hydraulic discs and I wish I could afford to go hydro since those have been serving well since 2001(10k miles at least). Either way the Canti system is lethargic to say the least.

You can switch to Avid brakes but you need to get the Road version if you keep your canti levers. Both BB5 and BB7 mechanical disc systems are available in a Road version.

the BB7 road version is marked "ROAD"

the BB5 road version has an "R" on it

(these pictures are likely for current production units)
