Shimano RX100 brake lever hoods

I got a lot of stuff at the scrap yard. Included were a pair of Shimano RX100 STI brake levers. They dont have hoods tho. Code number on them is STA 550. Its got a more or less straight edge round the hole where the lever goes in. Ive looked on Ebay and they list hoods for Dura ace and Ultegra. I was wondering what hoods to buy. Im in the United Kingdom.

I got a pair of Shimano SPD SL pedals, a dozen rear mechs, some Tiagra, Acera and Campag, some cranks, a Shimano XT rear hub in a Mavic 700c rim, a pair of roadster wheels with a Sturmey Archer 3 speed and a front Dynohub. All that was 18kg, cost 7.

Wonder why there were scrapped in the first place?

For RSX hoods, good luck in finding them, RSX has been OOP for a long long time, and unless you can find a shop with some old stock, your best bet is probably setting up an saved search on ebay.

Awesome.

I'm pretty sure the hoods are the same for RX100, 105 and Ultegra/600 for those first-generation STIs... not sure about Dura Ace. Was it the same part for both of those, or are you talking about two kinds?

Its a pair of Shimano RX100 brake levers with the STI mechanism on both. They both have the code STA 550 on them.
they were in 1 of 3 boxes of bike parts, that the local bike shop threw out. I saw a warranty label on a Giant wheel.
Im hoping that some one wanted an upgrade, or flat bars. So thats how the levers were taken off.
I have tested them by pulling the cable to give tension, and pressing the er gear levers. seems to index ok.
I have had MTB STI levers to bits before. I now know a load of interesting swear words, that I can direct at the Rx100 levers, if they need to come to bits.

Actually, there's an easy way to overhaul STIs - check out the link in my tag.

Are you sure? they are for brake levers only, not STI's as the OP noted in the first post.
