Tech Help: Chain Rub 53x12/13
I am experiencing chain rub in my 53 x 12 and 53 x 13. I am running a standard double, with a 12-25. It seems that the front derailleur is being rubbed by the chain on in the front part, the front tip of the FD.
Should i try adjusting the limit screws?

Also, i can try pushing my shifters all the way in, pushing the FD all the way out so as to prevent the rub in 53x12/13, but it wouldnt hold the FD at that position. And after i release the pressure off the shifter, it will carry on rubbing again. It only happen in the 53x12/13.

Check the angle of the FD in relation to its position against the crankset.

If it hits only on the front of the front derailleur, sounds like the derailleur isn't square with the chainring. If it is, then adjust you limiter (is it hitting on the outside or inside?). For the second question, maybe try adjusting your barrel adjuster.

if you can move it far enough to stop the rubbing then you do not need to adjust the limit screw. what you need to do is add tension to the FD cable. it sounds like it has just stretched some. use your barrel adjuster to add tension to the cable and you are done. the best way to set up the high on the FD is to put your chain in the large chainring and the smallest cog on the rear and set it so there is about 1-2mm gap between the chain and the FD. you also want to check and make sure your FD is parallel to the chainrings.
I am using the Transfil flying snake and the cable is pretty new, maybe less than a week old.
