How bad is this dented rim?

I bought a cheap set of wheels. upon initial inspection, I noticed the hop. but it wasn't until I got home and putting it on a stand that I found that the hop was actually a dent (see picture). the wheel is ultegra 6800. you think this will be a problem or it's ok?

From the photo, it doesn't look too bad, although if looking at it from the side and the rim is dented in from the top (as if the wheel got dropped), that could be a bigger problem. I made a video a few years ago on my wheel that had a much worse dent. I repaired it well enough to last another year or so. It wasn't perfect, but it was rideable and couldn't be felt through the brakes.

Have you tried mounting a tire to see how well it holds air and rides?

If the wheel is still round and true, it's probably fine.

That would not worry me. I would try to straighten it out gently.

@Le Mechanic, I've done lots of wheel repairs, and your video is impressive. Thank you.

I would make a careful and calculated attempt at straightening it.
