One of my pedals broke in half. I cannot believe this. Has this
happen to anyone else?

I was coming back from fellowship and I was making a right turn.
I toke it a little to fast, and tap the wall. I continue on and
when I went to put my foot back in the clip, I found that it was
not clipping. I looked down and there was only half of my left
pedal left. Oh Snaap!! Have you ever lose a pedal?

I have never heard of that happening...what kind of pedals were they?

I've torn apart plastic and metal platforms before. They were probably pretty cheap though.

Rock gardens are pedal graveyards. Busting up a pedal would be a lot harder in the city, but definitely not impossible.

I snapped a pedal axle once in college. No clue what brought it along, to be honest. I guess I uknowingly turned the power meter to 400W BABY!!! (haha, sorry for the Road Cycling subforum joke, couldn't help myself).

No, seriously, I did snap a pedal on campus once. Hasn't happened since.

It was some Wellgo M3 Pedals. It has a Shamino like interface.

Never broken one but I did have one unscrew so the platform slid off the end of the axle while I was pedaling. I would bet that if applied correctly it takes relatively little force to break a pedal. Its just in most accidents we never hit the pedal correctly.

I've broken only one, and that one was suspect because it was a badly abused bike before I got it. The pedal "axle" broke on a platform pedal that was about twenty years old. The pedal itself just fell off onto the road, leaving me grabbing for air. The stub left on the crank arm showed a pretty typical stress fracture. Bearing balls were gone, so maybe that accelerated the break.

The funny thing is that the axle is still there and strong. (I had to use some times afterwards since its my commuter.) Yet, the body is just missing in action. It just so weird to me.
