e-Moulton TSR
Inspired by Jur's beautiful Moulton APB electric assist conversion, I tackled a customer project and fitted a Bafang BBS02 kit to his TSR-9.
As this bike is destined to be a commuter for 40 mile round trips, I installed a Shimano Alfine 8 speed with rapid fire shifter, fenders, tour rack, and front pannier rack.. I made use of the small space within the Moulton spaceframe to accommodate two 7ah 52v mini-cube batteries combined for 14ah .. the battery mounting was pretty tight, but still fit. First shakedown test was yesterday. With the added weight of close to 16lbs mounted as low and centered as possible, the ride seemed mostly unaffected. So far, very happy with the outcome.. Moultons seem ideal as an e-assist platform with long wheelbase stability and compliant suspension..

Great job Bruce! Mounting the battery low is definitely an advantage. I also have a low priority project to mount 2 packs lower in the frame. I am thinking custom job inside to make a sleek fit.
How is the chain line?

Chain line isn't bad.. a hub gear with offset sprocket towards the chainstay, the Lekki 52t ring, a 132.5 rear spacing and a file on the pivot bolt nut make it reasonable.. the motor has 003" clearance at the triangle pivot nut.. I didn't have to use any spacers at the bb ... on quick glance, one would say chain line looks pretty good ..

Yea LBS does those mid drive conversions, here, but the buyers tend to be Hunters. the bikes Mountain.. bafang motors.
It's A Rural County on both sides of the river , (Columbia) larger batteries because they are headed into the woods.
40 mile RT, they probably need a charger at both ends and with 2 batteries ..
