Thrift Store Find - Info On Specialized Epic w/Campagnolo Everything?

I found this today - it was $130 - which I thought was a lot with it's condition (plus I've never heard of a Specialized Epic), until I saw it had Campagnolo everything (derailleurs, brakes, crank, rims, hubs, etc) - and then I saw it had a carbon fiber frame! So I bought it.
I googles & found Specialized Epics, but none with a Campagnolo group set - can anyone tell me about this bike?
Are the Campagnolo parts factory or did someone set it up?
What year is it?
Most important - what is it worth?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I *think* it is called an Allez Epic. Here is another one I spotted at Goodwill recently at roughly twice what you paid. Not sure but don't recall it having Campy. Seems like you did okay!

What you have is a 1994 Specialized Epic with Campagnolo Stratos. Orignal MSRP was $999.95 US. During this period the Allez and Epic were different series.

Edit: Just to clarify, the Stratos is the original group.

Nice find at that price even though these were the economy Campy components in the day...I want to say that the Stratos were made elsewhere other than Italy...Taiwan maybe? Lots more plastic and regular steel/cheap alloys.

That would make a great hybrid bike! Clean it up a bit and have fun!

...the earlier CF reinforced plastic frames like this one are not especially valuable. There were many issues with them, not the least of which was that some of them came apart at various joints and there were numerous recalls in that time period. I have no idea whether this was one of the problem ones, and suspect it was not. However, because they are not nearly as sophisticated in design as the newer molded one piece CF frames, they don't attract a lot of interest in my location.

In fact, at that price, a lot of people in my geographic location might have bought that as a donor bike to strip and use the components on something else. Which might be how it goes where you are if you list it for resale at the right price.

Good find

Seems like a good find for what you paid. Even tho components are mid level Campy.
