You are commuting in downtown at the same pace as cars and you look over to the car next to you and give a head nod...

I like having the road to myself. Racing cars and winning is a close second. Or maybe racing dogs and winning is second, as there's more at stake.

When I pull into the gas station ($4.15/gal) each morning on the way to work, only to pick up a (free) newspaper and put in my pannier before pedalling on my way.

I like that too, because I can usually assume I'm always less stressed than the driver. Having a car catch up to me at a light and ask for directions was pretty sweet, too. I wasn't beating traffic in that case (hardly anyone out) but I realized that since getting lost = physical work for me then I know my way around my area really well.
