Greetings from Lincoln, Nebrasskaaaa

Greetings everyone! I continued to search online and results from this forum continue to pile up, so here I am!

I am originally from Iowa and live in Lincoln, Nebraska. I've lived in Baton Rouge, Seattle, West Lafayette, and Iowa City, among other places. I've settled down and become a cyclist in the Lincoln community. I primarily commute daily to work, and enjoy spending additional free time on my bike.

I finally pulled the trigger signing up as I have purchased a Soma Saga DC set up that I'm going to start building out as my "new" commuter/long distance bike. I don't own any speedsters, and am a pragmatic guy with my time in the saddle thusfar. I mostly have leaned heavily on a LBS to help me but as I get in to the Saga build I'll be taking my older 80's Steel Bianchi MTB frame apart to tinker with.

I've done some long rides, 50's and 100's, one formal 100 mile ride locally called the Homestead 100. I did register to complete the Seattle to Portland ride later this July with my sister & brother in law.

So, hello again, and it looks like a fun little spot to chat bikes!

Des Moines. I've never done BRAN. I did the Tour de Nebraska last year and liked it. There are a ton of riders on it from Lincoln. And I like that it's a circle so you end up where your car is parked.

i've wanted to bring my bike to DSM for just a long day of riding. everyone says the trails there are awesome/has a great biking culture. i come once or twice a quarter just to visit friends but they're not much for cyclists

Some of those are gone. Currently in downsizing mode (not counting what's in storage).
Born overseas, traveled around the states a little after that.

i live in the southeastern part of the state where it is largely flat... if that's acceptable as an answer? living in lincoln, trail system is great at covering the quadrants of the city, and there's access to the "mopac" and "jamaica" trails that run out of the city as the vision of the complete rails to trails project marches on. mopac is crushed limestone i believe

Greetings seventwosteve
I live in omaha, unfortunately we have hills in omaha. Im jealous of your flat ridescape. Im looking for a good route from omaha to Lincoln I think it could make a good weekend trip.

There's a reason that Gravel Worlds every year has a course circumnavigating Lincoln, that has ~12,000 ft of climbing. NDOR only put the major highways on more or less flat ground.

color me corrected, I've not actually rode much in Lincoln but when I pass through it just seems so flat.
