I am going to pretend that I didn't see this. Soma has a good selection of brown wall tires that look good on a vintage bike. I recently picked up a set of Shikoro 700 x 33 tires. They're good tires and the weight is good (430 grams) for a tire with puncture resistance and a steel bead.

I agree regarding the tires. Their Supple Vitesse tires are almost indistinguishable from the Compass (now Rene Herse) tires. I also noticed that they have a new 27" tire, though sadly the maximum width is 1-1/4", just like everyone else.

I've heard that shipping from the SOMA online store is the typical deterrent, so I'm going to think about the best way to take advantage of this given the free shipping. The 15% is just icing. I've never purchased directly from SOMA.

Heck you live in the Bay area. Can't you just cycle over to the warehouse and pick up what you want?

I've actually considered that solution before, but there is no physical warehouse or storefront to be found! At least not one directly accessible to consumers.

My chrome Soma Rush is a pretty special bike to me. I will drool on their site for awhile.

Side note: Bike Direct got my money for their Nano mini velo.

These look an awful lot like Pasela Protites which are available for less. If anyone knows different, I'd like to know. I have a Schwinn Voyager that could use new tires.

I like the handlebar options they offer but don't own any.

Does anyone know how much the Roll-y Pol-y and Ruffy Tuffy weigh?

What is the measured width of the Jack Brown GREEN at max listed pressure?

Bump as a reminder. I just placed and order. Sale items are eligible for 15% off too plus free shipping!

I recently purchased an IRD freewheel that was defective and they replaced it and sent a call label for the return.

Only bought a couple of items but hard to restrain myself.

Would you do a review thread once you've ridden it a bit? My wife and I were curious about those for use as travel bikes.

I sure will! I am hoping it’s a good long distance machine. It would be nice also for throwing it into friends car and exploring areas they travel to.

A word of warning for Canadian customers thinking about ordering from Soma, or any of it's sister companies. I recently ordered a set of Sugino cranks and a few other small items to reach the $160 threshhold for free shipping. I had been sent a sales flyer online. The order was shipped by UPS and I was charged over $90 CAD in fees upon delivery. Almost all of that was various brokerage fees and other handling charges, little of it was actual custom fees or taxes. Makes the 'free shipping' seem ridiculous.
