ODOT does have some information posted about the road but it is a generic watch out for ice, water and snow on the road. I was hoping to get a ride report for the west side of the pass. My intention is to do the round trip to sisters from Hwy 126.

Comments: Highway 242 MP 61.91-83.7 remains closed to motor vehicles for the season, non-motorized use allowed. Use alternate route. A single lane has been cleared of snow all the way across the pass to expedite melting of remaining snow. Road is closed to motor vehicles and not maintained for other modes of travel. Users should watch for ice, gravel, rock and other debris and be cautious around road maintenance operations and equipment on the pass. This year, the earliest date of opening to motor vehicles will be June 20, if conditions allow.

I got this note from some cousins on April 18.
Hi Cliff,
A friend who works with Dennis said they were working on the old McKenzie rd. last week and would most likely have it open for bikes this week. Maybe you know that or have you already rode there on these nice days.I've been meaning to head up there, but haven't made it yet.
Rain this weekend. What is the snow level?
Ahhh.... 6500 to 7500 ft this weekend. Should be ok.
But dropping down to 4000 - 5000 ft next weekend
National Weather Service
BTW:
Where are you riding from? I've been wanting to try a new route up the mountain.

There is gravel along the north bank of Lookout Point, but it has been years since I've been on that road, and never by bike.
I've got some route suggestions for going up the McKenzie Highway too, but unfortunately I wasn't able to program them into Strava. I do have the ride with a few extra "loops" on RWGPS. The Rosboro road goes through between Finn Rock and Cougar, but that is VERY COURSE GRAVEL.

I just want to do the paved road of 242 to Sisters and back to 126.
