Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Yeah, I knew it was a joke from the little emoticon, was just putting in my 2 cents. maybe switch it to a thompson stem, they always print their logos both ways so it doesn't matter which way its flipped

Actually, that stem is a Deda Newton Pista that is meant to be oriented downwards only. It is 67 degrees, so it has a 7 degree downward slope relative to horizontal with a 74 degree headtube angle. Combine that with the long top tube on the VISP and my non-existent lower back flexibility, and I wouldn't even be able to reach the drops on those track bars. That build was a zero incremental $$$ commitment, so I did the best that I could with what I had. Any good aesthetics that resulted are purely accidental.

Dressed the new whip up and took some pictures around Brooklyn with a photographer homie. The stick we found to prop it up was so perfectly shaped for its new purpose that I let it stay in the picture.

I love Charlie. I'm not sure he even knows it but he is a huge part of why we decided to move the shop to San Diego.

He stopped by last night to give us the bittersweet news that he is moving to NY soon. He's definitely going to be missed in this city.

Yeah, huge bummer. Unfortunately I haven't known him long, but very glad to have met him. Hopefully he wont be in NY too long!

Have I posted of this version of my '86 Madison here? Really great around town. Mostly a mishmash of old parts while I wait for someone to buy this frame off me. Rides great.
