A lovely couple....

Still together after all these years.
Picked up off of local CL today.

Hope to make them into a nice pair of cruisers for my wife and I...

Are they red or burgundy? That Schwinn burgundy is one of my favorite bike colors ever!

Nice flashlight mount on the mens most likely a Wald. You need a vintage aluminum hefty flashlight for that

Makes me sad when I see a bike couple on CL and think it will probably end. Kudos for getting both of them!

Stately rides! Put them on the 3 speed thread. They have British SA hubs! What year are they?

Glad you could keep them together. I was able to find a little brother for my '64 Legnano Roma. This old Legnano Gran Primo followed me home from Eroica a couple weeks ago.

Doing a little digging on this vintage Schwinn sight (https://bikehistory.org/bikes/speedster/) I think I have them nailed down to 1972.
This would have been the first year of the diamond frame for the men. In 1973, only yellow or green were offered and by 1974, it looks like the 2-tone seat was gone and only black offered.
They both have round rear reflectors.
And if I am correct on the 1972, then yes, the red would be Schwinn Burgundy. Really nice in the sunlight!
Both have original handle bar bells and what I guessed to be flashlight holders.
Both are 3 speeds.
Original grips, etc....
Pretty stoked. I look forward to seeing how much shine I can bring back out of both....

Those are beauties!
When I picked up my Mongoose Rockadile SX hardtail a few years back, I went looking for a match for my wife. Both are chrome and great rides. (not worth showing off here with those hotties)
