Cushy Conflict (tire choice)
Hey Folks,
I'm just about done fixing up my old 96 Trek 800 and I'm torn between the Schwalbe Big Apples (26 x 2.35) and the Maxxis DHT (26 x 2.3, skinwall).
Those of you who have ridden either, and especially those who have ridden both, please help me decide between the two. I've already ruled out Hookworms, Fat Franks and Schwalbe Super Moto's.
Main function of this bike will be for weekend relaxation and fartin around with the family; maybe zipping around town to grab some some groceries. No real trail-riding to speak up, but I could see a little 6mph joyride in the pine-covered woods (nothing some slick 700x28c tires haven't been able to handle).
So, as my 2yr old would say "whatcha got for me?"
Thanks!

Looks like you need a bumpski.
I have no experience with any of those tires, and it looks like if anyone else here has, they are busy riding.
If I was in your situation, I'd simply decide on style or night riding needs. If you ride at night or low lighting conditions, I'd get the tires with the reflective strip on the sidewall.
Those Maxxis look more like BMX than city tires, which is great if that's the style you prefer.
