I dunno. My back gets better the more I work it. Gotta be the right kind of work, though. XC skiing is my latest best thing. Back hurts all the way down to my belt line after a couple hours, but fixes me right up.

The back muscles are fine, it is the bulging disc I keep disturbing. R&R, no working Saturdays and no sitting except at work. Oh, riding the cruiser seems to be the ticket for rehab, which I discovered way back in 87

My mama didn't raise no fool, I'm a self-made idiot and it was hard work.

Yes Mmama, you raised a fool

I had sciatica for years . Exercise helped but I finally couldn't get rid of it. I had a bulging disc at L5-s1. I found an orthopedic surgeon through references from my PCP. They found I had a bulging disc and recommended a microdiscectomy where they just shave off the extrudate. I had it and was pain free for about 5 years. I then developed a condition where I had discs sliding across each other. I used the same surgeon for a multi-level back fusion. I have been pain free for another 10 years and still try to ride 200 mi weeks.

Good news. The sciatica has settled down substantially. In 1987 my physical therapist named..... Lou Grant.....had me sleep on my belly for a month, no sitting, and no lifting. I went back to what he taught me about relaxing the back so the disc could sneak back in there and spent the last week on the floor. Slept on the floor, eat on the floor, etc. Will try working at the shop tomorrow. Hope it goes well!
