Commuting at 180 mph?
Ok, she wasn’t commuting, but this 45year old lady just pedaled her bike at over 180mph. She had to be pulled up to 100mph just to be going fast enough to spin her pedals with 488 gear inches (I commute with 70 gear inches and race fixed gear at 90 gear inches). That is a distance of 130 feed for every turn of the cranks.
I'm impressed. And glad she didn't crash...

Just imagine how fast she could have gone if the bike was fully-enclosed under that range hood-looking contraption.. I wonder if the drivers ever "brake check" her, just for laffs?

At 184mph, I could ride my 9 miles to work in 3 minutes flat.

But I'm also glad that the cyclist that broke the land speed record didn't crash.

@acidfast7, I thought of the same video. Brazil is a crazy place to ride or drive. Fun, but kinda insane.

I wonder what all that stuff is written inside the fairing.....

How many watts dod I have to put down to go 184mph? With the right gearing and some serious strength training maybe I could reduce my commute time to about 2.5 minutes.

There is a second bottom bracket so the 62t ring drives a 12t cog which is attached to another 62r ring and that drives the 12t cog in the rear wheel. So the gearing is 17 * 62/12 * 62/12 = 454 gear inches.

That person was not actually doing 180 miles in an hour since they weren’t riding for an hour. They drafted behind a car for several miles for a few minutes and hit that speed at one point. Who cares? It’s like saying I rode to work today at 37 miles per hour because that was my top speed at one point, when my true average speed was 18 mph. Not all that impressive. If someone jumped out of an airplane on a bike and fell at that speed, no one would care.

Yeah, it's a little like someone sitting on a bike that's attached to the roof rack of a car, getting onto the bike, and the car going 180 mph. Technically "they did 180 mph, while on a bike" but not really.

SCTA, does the Timing Data, At Bonneville Salt Flats,
speed is calculated by time between
1 light beam sensor at the beginning,
and the 2nd one at the end,
of the precisely measured distance.
there is an acceleration distance up to the first,
deceleration after the 2nd..
And briny water if you don't stop soon enough..
it is a dried lake bed, but it does rain there..

Yeah, because you haven't even trained for it, and if you were towed up to 100mph and let go, you'd be able to get the bike up to at least 101mph before you got dropped out of the fairing slipstream, blown over by 100mph winds and break every bone in your body, including the tiny ones in your ears
