More wildlife, good size turtle last evening but he won't come out and say hi. Have also seen large snakes this week, but they're not hanging around for me to get a photo, which is fine by me

Roadside turtles along the Katy Trail in Missouri last week:
Steve Carter, on Flickr
I also ran over a water moccasin that had slithered onto the trail ahead of me. From the look of it, I at least paralyzed it. Didn't want to stop to find out for sure!
The "high point" of the Katy Trail. This is a joke, right?

Always interested in others impressions of rural trails I have ridden, tho not in its' entirety heading west.
I should get out to GJ late summer or fall to visit F-I-L. will have road bikes.

I took a triple out so i could ride a closed road and a deserted road in/near Mt. Rainier NP. Uncharacteristically warm for May 14, by +20*F = lovely.
White River valley.
Turn-off for White River entrance and campground at MRNP, and the road to Sunrise Lodge (not sure if the road to Sunrise is cleared of yet snow).
This road was closed behind me for construction somewhere ahead, so i had a nice climb and descent on a smooth empty forest road.

Downtown Rockmart, Georgia. Not sure what they do in this building but it was recently restored and looks really cool.
Silver Comet Trail bridge crossing the Euharlee Creek, Rockmart, Georgia.
The locally famous "Have-No-Gotta" Ranch. Chatted with the owners today. They were amused to find out that there is a local bike route named "Have-No-Gotta" because it passes their ranch.

For a while they had even closed the bathrooms at the trailhead and there is little reason to even stop in Rockmart now. Lots of super nice riding in the nearby countryside though. The Tour de Georgai went through the area, a few miles East of Rockmart.
FYI, Mac's Bakery is downtown and a favorite with locals. Try the spicy cheese straws and check the date on the milk.

yeah..... I have that same problem, holding the camera still when i shoot!
Just kidding, those are remarkable shots from an event/place i would like to visit some time.
Possibly worth putting in a gallery in a bike savvy city.

My Elephant Bikes NFE (right) and the bike of a friend of mine and fellow randonneur (left) in front of Lake Yamanaka near Mt Fuji at the 400 km BRM512 brevet by AJ Nishi-Tokyo. I finished with 2h00m spare, for 25h00m total - my best 400 km time ever
Aokigahara forest near Mt Fuji, also known as the 'suicide forest'.
Stop and smell the roses - at the fence around the TDK factory in Yamanashi. The company planted beautiful rose bushes along a public highway that runs next to the factory, where I passed during the brevet. Back in the days, TDK SA-90 tapes used to be my recording medium of choice for audio mixes.

It's been some time (September 2017!) since I had the chance to take my Bianchi for a ride. I live in the very north of England - just about 8 miles from the border with Scotland - and the weather has been very poor for months. This week the sun has been shining and I have been able to make the most of it with several rides - the longest being 44.4 miles.
I'm fortunate to live in a very beautiful part of the UK - if only the weather was better!
Pausing beside the Solway Firth estuary on Cumbria's coast in NW England. The land across the water is Scotland.
This water fall is man made weir that used to power a textile factory in Carlisle, which is now apartments (the building on the right).
Time to cool off!
Taking a short break after climbing some short, sharp hills

If you want to feel small, hike up the rivers that source at the base of one of Mt. Rainier's many glaciers. Carbon, Emmons, Nisqually, etc... This one happens to be the drainage for the Cowlitz glacier - ie the Cowlitz River. Perspective is hard without a good reference, but that's a fair sized river, not a creek. The glaciers have receded leaving these huge, rocky, scars, now downhill from the diminished glacier's lower tips that now drain melt & rain that summer brings.
