Norco Avanti - not sure of year, late 70's - early 80's?
I've got an old Norco road bike I got off Kijiji - it was in really rough shape, I've cleaned it up a bit. It rides and shifts nice, the brakes are about what I expect from an old bike with chrome rims, make a little bit of noise as there is a little pitting on the brake surface.

It appears to be circa 1982-1985 but I should be able to tell you the exact year and manufacturer from the serial number.

I sent the serial number in a PM, rather not post the whole thing in an open forum. I've looked it up before, but the format doesn't seem to fit - two letters (SH), 6 numbers.

Sorry, I can't identify the manufacturer but the S/N indicates it's almost built certainly in the grey area where it could be either a 1982 or 1983 model. It corroborates my earlier estimate based on known years for the Avanti and that particular logo style.

Sorry - forgot to post this info. Most of it I think you could have gotten from the pictures, but:
6 speed freewheel
Suntour GT rear derailleur
Suntour Spirit front derailleur
Dia-Compe brakes and levers - brake lever extensions
Tange steel frame

Norco Avanti - Year? Worth?
Hi, can someone tell me what my vintage Norco Avanti is worth? I know it is from the 1980's but would like to also know the exact year? The serial number is SJ319984. It is all original except for the seat. It is in working condition.

What year do you believe the bike to be, based on the serial number? Thanks.
