What this site suggests can happen-pressure on perineum can cause damage to nerves blood vessels urethra-
is fairly well accepted medically
but in general the "cure" is the same-get weight off perineum
perhaps a noseless saddle-
now everyone who has used a noseless saddle KNOWS it takes some getting used to-
and it doesn't really provide the same support that "normal" saddles do-also tends to put more weight on wrists
No free lunch
I use a saddle with a cut out-but I also ride "off center"-on one thigh or another-weight off perineum

More solutions:
- losing body weight
- no heavy bag on back or shoulder if you ride a bike.
- discuss sexual or urological symptoms candidly with your doctor, at an early stage.
- study this topic on the internet proactively, to take adequate preventive measures.

Get the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, and the abominable snowman!! This is the umpteenth article claiming that biking somehow affects a person sexually.

This is the same news we've been hearing for men for decades, with the same cure. Get a saddle that fits and adjust it properly.

Well, not biking makes some of us a lot less likely to get any sex.

Get a 'bent if it worries you so...

Driving a car makes you fat... which leads to poor sexual performance too.

I assume he means that a recumbent doesn't put pressure on the perineum or erectile nerves. It's actually solid advice if one is concerned about erectile dysfunction to the point that it's worrisome.

I could directly impact my sexual health by insisting my wife ride with me.

Take care of yourself, don't ignore warning signs, regular checkups, annual PSA tests starting 45yo (30 if a family history), good diet, less booze, no smokes...if you have control of the prominent factors we know about, a cycling related issue should be easy to spot early and correct before any permanent damage.

Exactly. Don't give up cycling... it is GOOD for your health, but if you're worried about your "equipment" try a recumbent... the pressure is more on your back and bottom than on your sit bones and perineum.

My desire for sex died when my wife passed away (yes, i know, probably tmi), but if cycling is going to / has damaged my "functionality" in any way, all I can say is 'meh, no big deal.'

I put plenty of miles on my bike but don't have any issue with "performance," if you know what I mean. Of course, the once every few weeks that my wife is interested means I'm always ready to go.

This sounds like an interesting test procedure. I wonder if the test apparatus was purchased through adameve.com.

I find that cycling makes me feel better in bed than before. but lately all of my mistresses have complained at the presence of my derailleur in the bed...

I still have a copy of the '90s Bicycling Magazine "sex issue", where they introduced the need for the saddles with a middle trench. Saddles have never been the same! Except for my Brooks....

It is the action of your thighs moving up and down transferred to the pedals that makes them go around. If one of your thighs was taking all the weight off your crotch your pedaling would be severely impaired. If you are able to pedal at all you are putting significant weight on your sit bones. As we must. The saddle cut-out ought to be enough. Continued asymmetry in your pedaling action may lead to a future knee or hip injury that could have been prevented.

I am pretty sure my saddle doesn't put much pressure on my perineum. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure I would get numbness, which almost never happens. I don't know of any cyclists that have had this problem. It keeps coming up, because it gets attention

I pedal just fine slightly off center-one side then another-but I also have the cut out
I am on my "seat bones" but one more than the other,
Besides you don't have to be seated to pedal

I'm just not sure how a saddle is supposed to work in the bedroom...
