I'm thinking of another way to solve the "roller dilemma". I'm investigating buying a "low cost" set on Amazon or whatever and having them shipped to the motel. When Nats is over, I can either ship them back home, or donate them to T-Town. I'm sure the track would accept a set of rollers more readily than a fold up chair.

Feedback Omnium Track Rollers ftw btw...you can take them as a carry-on on flights. Super portable and very popular at tracks.

It has been a long time since I was at TTown. Does anyone know if they have automated start gates, or will the TTs be hand held?

The $64,000 question is: Will they use them?

My gut says no. Masters Nationals has so many participants that I can easily see staff simply opting for hand-holding in order to speed things along (pun intended).

You may be right. However, if they are doing electronic timing, you can run a starting gate faster than hand holding. I often work on a gate team at VSC, and a well oiled team can bang out the starts faster than setting up for hand holding. It's why we do gates even for local TTs, like we are having on Sunday. It also eliminates the need for holders who know what they are doing, except, of course, for team events
