Video: Quick Ride to Manitou Springs and Back...

Late Sunday morning ride to Manitou Springs and back (central Colorado Springs 20 miles round trip). 82F start, 92F finish. Wore sun sleeves and neck shade, wetting both down periodically which kept me very cool. More new bike lanes, more new pavement, new rear cassette with lower low gear for my 56 year old knees, but same upper gears. This is the second bike I did this to this spring, and I'm really happy I did. My MTB-based commuter already has a rediculously low range.

I've been riding up to Manitou Springs for 26 years and even though there's more traffic every year, the infrastructure gets better every year. There's a couple of alternate routes including "The Midland Trail" MUP, but I didn't take that today. Filled up with water from one of the springs, but it wasn't so fizzy this time (it varies).

Enjoy!

Thanks for posting. I enjoyed your trip. Sent me back in time to when I lived in that area.

I stayed at the Red Wing Motel in Manitou Springs for the two weeks I attended the Barnett Institute in 2004. The Garden of the Gods was right in the back yard, and a nice spot to ride.

OMG. Manitou Springs has certainly changed. I was there back when it was still a counter culture enclave. Used to have a carousel and little game place. Loved it back then.
