It's sort of urgent. Thank you!

Model UO8 from the 70's.
Judging from the "Aztec" style head lugs.....

+1. Circa 1973, first year in yellow. I can't tell if the headbadge is raised or a sticker. That would narrow it down a bit more, though it makes no difference in the value. Probably 1975 at the latest.

Yeah, thank you. Sorry for bothering you, I'm starting to be a little desperate since my attempts at finding a decent vintage bike for a reasonable price are constantly failing. This thread can be locked, deleted, forgotten or whatever.

Thanks again for quick responses.

Looks more like a Peugeot UE8 to me, with the luggage rack mounts and the mount for a generator. Of course, I could be wrong. Mid seventies vintage, most likely.

Finding decent vintage stuff, especially on a local basis, requires patience and a certain openness to what you find. My advice is to get the word out ; talk to neighbors and friends. You'll be surprised at what turns up.

Those decals weren't used after 1974. I think that someone painted the lugs.

The UO8 is a "decent" bike to start out a C&V collection. Manyy in these forums got their feet wet with UO8s and enjoyed their nice ride. So if this one is in good condition, it could make for a good starter C&V bike for you.

Hey, randyjawa; first, I'd like to thank you for the effort you put in your site, I find it very helpful. Second, since you also had an ALAN Super Record I was wondering if you could take a look at the ALAN bicycle from my post here, could it also be a Super Record?

I know and I tried to be patient, but it's not even that, I've found a few nice looking bikes for a reasonable price, but for various reasons I was unable to actually buy them in the end and I'm starting to find this a bit frustrating and discouraging.

I believe you, but I'm not really willing to spend $130 on UO8 or UE8, that just seems a bit to much.

I have one I'm about 99% sure is a 1975. Same decals, yellow lugs, but a headbadge as opposed to a sticker. Serial number starts with a one. Peugeot models years were a bit, uh, fluid would be the word, methinks .

Black pinstriping on the lugs.

$130 for a UO8 that is complete, in good condition, and doesn't need much of anything to go riding - doesn't sound so awful. Sure, $100 would be better, depending on where you are. But it's just $30. Ride it ten times, that's $3/ride. Search for another 10 weeks, that's $3/week. What I mean is, cheaper is always better but unless you are planning to re-sell, I'd value getting the right bike (fits, good condition, looks good to you) over saving $30.

Trick to finding decent vintage bikes locally is to look aggressively. Word of mouth works great, if you see one for sale publicly (ie., C/L), then you have to pounce. No time to wait for convenience, as others will scoop it on you. The best deals when for sale publicly are either poorly described (no picture even better), need work and/or are incomplete. Often the "best" deals are the wrong size. Consider picking them up to fatten the bike fund and allow you to be able to pay more for that "perfect" bike.

The other bikes that tend to be good deals here are higher end bikes. The lower end is full of scoopers and recreational riders. Move up in price, and the buyers disappear.

Not sure where you are but around here I could get $180.00 for that all day long as long as it's greased and ready to ride and I price my bikes low to move them quickly.

Those old low end Puegeots ride beautifully and (I think) look fantastic.

I looked at your prior thread with the ALAN etc.

Okay, I now think that you've been looking at bikes that I'd consider higher-end than the UO-8, and because of that I wonder if you'd be happy with the UO-8.

It is a nice-riding, solid, vintage bike. But if you've been looking at ALANs, Colangos, 501-framed Peugeots, etc, then I think you might be "settling" for the UO-8. It's really a personal/subjective thing, though.

Yeah, I'm hoping I'll be able find something a bit better.

Anyways, thanks everyone for your input, it's been invaluable as always. Thanks!
