Tubus rack end plugs?
Anybody know if there's a source where I can get one of the little plugs that goes on the end of a tube of a tubus rack? I just noticed I was missing one, and since the tube points upward (tubus locc), I don't want it to collect water.

Ummm, did you try contacting Tubus? I think the same importer that does Ortlieb in the USA also handles Tubus.

Probably not a bad idea. I got the rack not too long ago, but bought it from a German source (way cheaper), so it's not like it'd be easy to ask the bike shop where I bought it how to get that bit. Didn't think to contact tubus directly.

It's only unfortunate that I didn't buy through him. I wanted the Locc which I couldn't find in the US (plus I wanted to save a little money). In exchange, I lost the service.

But their prices in USA are so high because the USA distributor charges so much more than in Europe, that I continue to buy from Europe.

Barring all else, you could maybe try some plastic-dip like is used on tool handles. Plug the hole with something, dip the tube into the goop a few times letting it dry between dippings until it is thick enough. Just a thought.

I keep finding new use for this stuff, SUGRU. Air cured rubber putty.

Wayne is the man. I asked him if he knew where I could buy some, and he just asked me my address. I told him I hadn't bought the rack from him and asked how much he wanted. He said no charge. When I get the money saved up for a set of Ortleibs, I'm definitely going through him.

If you have an old candle you could drip some candle wax in there. It may not last forever but it might be cheap enough to redo it when needed. However do what others have said first contact Ortlieb USA or Wayne or check your local shop.
