What's this?

Found while removing the cassette on a Centurion Ironman.

The bike is UG 105.

Is this what the UG cassette body looked like? I've only messed with Dura Ace UG and it's a different animal altogether.

For my purpose, it doesn't matter much since it came off with 2 whips and no stress. It's just a little different than I expected to see.

BTW, rear rim is Araya on joytech and front is Wobler on 105. I assume the front is original but I dunno.

That’s a freewheel body. Not a freehub/cassette.

That makes sense. I didn't realize that you can disassemble the cogs on a freewheel. I took it apart just like a UG cassette.

That definitely means the rear wheel isn't original.

This is actually great news. It means that I can give my little lady some climbing gears. Not super mountains but ok. But for approximately what I spend a week on beer, I've ordered her a great 14-28 freewheel. Kinda married to a 130bcd 165mm crank.

35 gear inches will get up some stuff. 95 is pretty light for descents but I bet it's only going to see flat bike trail and kid trailer use, so I'd rather have more low end than high for her.

And who knew, a Campy lockring/bb tool fit the old freewheel perfectly. I didn't expect that.

That's impressive and fortunate that the Campag tool worked, since I've seen Campy bottom bracket cups destroyed from someone using a Shimano Freewheel or cassette tool on it.

Again, this is a FREEWHEEL hub, no cassette will fit on it.

I knew what I meant and typed the wrong word anyway. I edited the above post for clarity.

That's either a really spendy freewheel, or you're drinking a lot less beer than I am
