PSA $25 aluminum sealed bearing 1" threaded headset on eBay

Anybody else see these?

picture from eBay

I bought 3 of them on a flier. They arrived quickly, and look exactly as advertised, about 85 grams. No name on them, shiny and high quality look.

39mm stack height

Haven't installed one yet, but dimensions mic out as shown, diameters match ISO standard

Yep, I've got one of these. Gorgeous looking piece, but like you I haven't had a chance to install it yet.

Check around, there was at least one other seller for about the same price.

I have no way to verify this, but I've heard that OEM over orders from bike manufacturers buying in bulk dump them on eBay from time to time.

I tried one. Very light, but the threads are a bit rough on them. Feels almost like plastic.

Crown race on mine is 27.0 JIS.

My bike coop had something similar but with a silky finish. The name is Chin Haur. I was skeptical. I installed it. It feels like a champ. Some cheap stuff is good, or at least is good initially. It hasn't stood the test of time, but I'm optimistic.

I have Chin Haur bottom brackets in my Colin Laing tandem. They seem fine and decently made
My friend has one in his Nishiki commuter as well. Nothing untoward to report after a year of all-weather use!

This shows us how low our expectations are of Chinese made goods, and it isn't justified. When I was a kid, whenever we saw "Made in Japan" on something, we would laugh. Then the stuff got good. Now Korean and Taiwanese stuff is known to be good. Watch out. China is a manufacturing powerhouse now. The new stuff is impressive.

the link from Germany_chris takes you to a 1-1/8" Passage, but the Pic in the post looks like a 1" Falcon (which has sealed bearings) and if the Falcon is available for $21 (in any country) I'm BUYING!

In the 60s, "Made in Japan" was synonymous with cheap junk. By the end of the 70s, it was a mark of quality. In retrospect it's fairly amazing how quickly the reputation turned around.

Especially if they don’t have to worry about patents, copyrights, human rights, and international law.
Cheap goods and money talks. I’m as guilty as anyone. Patience is a virtue, and they have it.

The inexpensive, good quality 1" threaded headset is extinct in Canada these days.

Yup. Some of their success is due to cheating, but let's not kid ourselves about what they're doing right, either. They're ready for anything, and the pandemic shows that we were not able to manufacture things we need urgently. Also see the story about how Apple wanted to make one computer model here but could not get the screws it needed. US manufacturers have given up in some areas.

Chin Haur provided many, many OEM square taper bottom brackets for the MTB market in the late 90's to early 00's.

Very true. I own an engineering and manufacturing company. The Chinese copies of my patented (and non-patented) products even come with duplicate print copies of the instructions and warranty!

There is nothing I can do about it. I am competing with myself.

My brother in law was an intellectual property lawyer for an international company, and I found his stories interesting. He said the company faced the fact that many -- but not all -- Asian countries don't really respect intellectual property as an asset, so many people in those countries have no compunction about copying people's work. I think our culture places too much value in some cases, so we are at opposite ends of the spectrum.
