Spent Sat and Sun tooling around dirt roads in eastern VT, western MA with a couple of friends. Hilly out there!

You need a dedicated gravel bike, and I recommend one with fenders.
Can't believe you went all the way to the tunnel and didn't go through it! Gitcher self some strap on lights, the newest LED ones are pretty inexpensive and powerful.

First time in a long while on my Schwinn Super Sport. Put fenders back on it yesterday, so it will become my winter steed. Tried some Detto Pietros I bought this past summer for the first time. Difficult to get into the cleats - no little pad up front, just the super slick plastic sole. Nicely styled, but poor functional execution.

When I went through that tunnel last year, I had my eyes closed the whole time anyway.

Today the ride was a special one, i really enjoyed my ride in the evening fall, watching how people are having coffee at coffee shops, and all were so happy, or it was me, i don't know

A dedicated gravel bike would make sense if I did a lot of this stuff, but I don't. Anyway, the Casati, wearing 25mm Challenge Elites, handled everything the trail threw at it. The bike really does the job in its current setup.

Just another local ride. Overcast but above average temps. Were calling for showers today but didn't see a drop of rain. Some of the colors out here are just spectacular.
And if you wait too long you can miss them. Here's two shots of the same beautiful tree a week apart.
It was actually warm enough for this guy to come out and catch some heat off of the asphalt. Almost never see them late into October. He didn't mind me at all, and I guided him to the rocks beside the path so he didn't get squished.

Did a 90 mile out and back from South Philly to the end of the Perkiomen Trail yesterday on my '88 Alpina Uno drop bar conversion gravel/tourer. It was raining when I left home, but cleared up within the first couple of hours. A beautiful autumn day.

Back to work this morning. A little fog and drizzle. Felt good the whole ride.
But then this happened. This is the life we chose to live.

I have done this ride many times, just in reverse. Your pictures capture it beautifully. How did you like the ride up Spring Mountain?

Well how about that, didn’t realize you were in that neck of the woods! I grew up in Wilson, went to Hunt High School. You need to ride and post a pic from the whirligig park in Wilson. They’re real proud of that.

Popped my bike packing cherry. Rode 30 miles out to the Hardware River Wildlife Management Area near the town of Scottsville. The Hardware River is the size of a large creek (the bar is low to be called a river on the East coast) My camping spot was a couple,e hundred yards from the Hardware and about 1/4 mile from the James River but I saw neither as it was very thick brush and trees. Different, and harder, 35 miles back home today.

I didn't have much time this morning before my virtual class, so I rode a 5 mile loop as quickly as possible. My average speed was up compared with the last few months. I'm in Ulster County, NY, and pretty much all the roads here are gorgeous, especially now.
