Looking for one epic ride near Austin

I will be spending a few days in Austin later this month. What is your one favorite ride to show of the highlights of the area? Metric to Statute century will do.

I found the LiveSTRONG ride for 2011

Or 2012

One hope is to find a ride through Balcones. But open to any ideas.

What do you suggest?

Tour das Hugel: mission is to find and ride every big hill in the Austin area. "over 100 miles of Austin’s toughest hills, including over 10,000 feet of climbing."

cue sheets here:

I would ride dam loop clockwise, at the halfway point head northwest on Bullick Hollow road and ride Volente loop clockwise. Head back down to finish off dam loop and head up Jester, then Cuernavaca on the retun. After that if you ride up Mt. Bonnell you'll have hit my favorite Austin monuments.

I have the same question and I'm looking for at least 100 miles. I've settled on the Tour Das Hugel route for now, but would appreciate any other routes you might suggest. The more climbing the better.

I did the Tour das Hugel route last week and I was pleased with it. The cue sheets served me well. I didn't feel like I was put in any dangerous traffic situations and it seemed like a good mix of difficult hills and good scenery. The one downside is that the route is a little repetitive and you end up seeing some of the same things more than once. One big loop would be nice instead of two small ones, but then I suppose you might end up with a less challenging route and/or not so bike friendly roads.

I definitely recommend the route. The cue sheets are right there on the website, so it couldn't be easier.
