Lookin' for a frame....
I've had some decent luck with the fit of my 2014 Specialized Roubaix, and am looking for a backup bike. I don't plan to use it much, so I'm going to swap parts off of my current cross bike. Gearing will be super-low, so I might use it for light touring as well. So....
- steel frame
- preferably straight top tube
- can take canti brakes
- weight doesn't matter
- OK with a slightly longer wheelbase, or more stable steering
- size 52cm
Geometry:
Specialized Bicycle Components
Anything come to mind? Thanks.

All-City Space Horse. Checks all of your boxes except for the straight top tube (it as a slight slope to it). The bike has low bottom bracket (75 mm drop) and long chainstays (440 cm), so it is very stable at speed. I use mine as a gravel bike, and have done some light touring and singletrack riding on it, as well as 100+ mile rides on paved roads, with skinny tires on it. The bike is kind of stiff unloaded, but handles moderate loads great, while still being more zippy than a full-on touring bike.
A frameset costs around $600, and can be ordered by pretty much any bike shop. I got mine online at Universal Cycles. It is a nice enough bike that I get lots of compliments on it, but not too nice - I have no qualms riding it in the rain, mud, or getting paint chips from rocks.

Busy around here lately, I see....
The All City is an option, the 49cm looks like it has nearly the same stack & reach as the Roubaix 52. Unfortunately, I hate the color.
Anything else come to mind? Thanks

Surly Cross-Check? Or the LHT if you need even a longer wheelbase, but you'll need to think about buying 26" wheels for your frame size.

There are effectively three colors Im sure any shop can get their hands on even though this year is that bland Silver the previous years can still be found. I love the green and think the light blue is nice as well.
I'm considering either a SpaceHorse or a VO Passhunter- level top tube but less tire clearance. 38 max I believe. 35 with fenders.
Just food for thought.
