Fascinating fact. There are 150 million frozen mammoth carcasses in Siberia.

Vital to LCF is an in-depth understanding of global Tarpaulin use:

"The Global Tarpaulin Sales 2015 Market Research Report is a professional and in-depth study on the current state of the Tarpaulin market.

The report provides a basic overview of the Tarpaulin industry including definitions, classifications, applications and industry chain structure.

Development policies and plans are discussed as well as manufacturing processes and cost structures are also analyzed. This report also states import/export consumption, supply and demand figures, cost, price, revenue and gross margins."

Global Tarpaulin Sales 2015 Market Research Report - market research report

The report costs only $4,000 and not a word about bicycles: Perfect for LCF.

Yes, sorry, Machka got me off topic with her elephant photo. Or maybe it's supposed to be a mammoth, given the tiny ears. African elephants have large ears for heat loss, mammoths would have had small ones for heat conservation.

Fascinating reading for anyone who truly advocates Tarpism as a panacea for the complex problems that modern life confronts us with instead of making the mundane routine rational choices that make good sense every day.

Our motto: "Hide your head under your Tarp & Carp".

Just to stay on Topic: "Bicycle"

How is that going to smell when the ice melts? I know that thawing permafrost releases a lot of methane gas even without the mammoths.

[Skip rest of fascinating "idea"]
I -- unlike all of you -- see clearly what is going on here.
Of course your post in on topic as this list is currently being used by a few dedicated "idea" posters.
What could be more BF-LCF worthy than over-the-top environmental "ideas" that have the scent of the all natural aroma of Mother Earth?

So you're using elephant posts to trample his tree posts. It's brilliant.
On reflection, you are right. I have deleted the offending post; it was unfair. Parody has absolutely no place in this sub-forum.

Correct, some of our poster friends get offended if the figurative elephant of the LCF list (i.e. relentless posting of OT P&R "ideas") is addressed, let alone parodied. A few fellows take such "ideas" seriously, ya know, and consider any so-called idea, no matter how OT, bizarre or P&R (transportation options on Mars anyone?) they are interested in is relevant to Living Car Free.

Tarps are supposed to go inside your panniers. Every cyclist ( especially a car-free cyclists) should always carry a tarp with them at all times when riding their bicycle.

Even a medium sized Tarpaulin would take up too far much room in a pannier.
A properly sized plastic trash bag would be my recommendation for water resistant inner-pannier stowage taking virtually no space while providing disposable H2O protection at little cost.

On my weekly rides to ther Farmer's Mkt I take plastic trash bags to keep the thawing frozen free range chicken from fouling my Carradice seatbag in TX heat.
Cross contamination of poultry onto cycling kit is not good.

If you are smart (which is a given if you are reading this forum!), you put that tarp to good use WHILE you are riding.

I take it that you can argue that posting of any and all "ideas" no matter how OT, bizarre, Fooish or P&R (relentless or otherwise) is relevant to Living Car Free, just as long as the appropriate PC buzz words like environmental, sprawl or culture are included somewhere in the gibberish.

It's almost an honor when some thread I've posted in goes berserk and ends up in P&R the next time it shows in my email and then I find out when I try to post and get the error message.
