Wow, nice to know someone is getting Spring weather. It was cold and wet this morning, 44f when I left and while not raining the ground is still saturated from weekend rains

Was 17C this morning and not so windy seaside. Water was 12C, which is quite good as well! Should be warmer tomorrow as well.

Cool morning, down in the mid-50s, but clear and calm. Marvelous weather for cycling!
The city is getting around to the road work they've been threatening. They've got the grinding machines lined up this morning to start ruining the (lousy) pavement today along some 3/4 mile of my normal route. Naturally, it's the stretch that's most difficult to avoid. At least, if they're going to force me to ride a longer route, it's over the summer instead of during winter!

Some say it is bike to work week this week. Suppose I'll give it a go. Last week I broke 2,000 miles commuting for the year, so I guess I'm already in.
I had to bring in more food (lunch and snacks) this morning than usual. It made for a heavy bike and I could feel it on the uphills. It will feel much lighter going home.

2nd bike commute of 2019, and probably the only one this week, unless the weather forecast changes. Rode my fixed gear for the first time since adding the rear brake back in. I've always had the front brake installed, but I decided I would feel a bit more in control of my stops with two brakes.

Good commutes today. Rained the first half of the ride in but I was almost dry by the time I got to work. Dry ride home. Cloudy and chilly but it’s good commuting weather. Really I just putzed along the entire time, there and back. Listened to some tunes last half of the ride home. Only the sun would’ve made things better.

The coop had planned to have outside hours tonight, and the rain washed away that plan, so the coop is closed tonight.

My morning (6:15 AM) commute was very pleasant...mid fifties, no wind. Saw 1 rabbit and 1 coyote on the trail.
The evening commute included a 10 MPH SSW wind that was in my face at times. However, owing to the new Shimano 105 group set, the new DT Swiss wheels and the Continental GP 4000 4 Season tires, plus I bought a shorter bar stem (75mm) so, with all that and some tweaks to the seat and bar, I am able to commute about 2mph on average faster than with the old setup. Plus the bike is just a lot more fun to ride.
So, I call all that a worthwhile upgrade.

Much cooler morning at only 52F meant long sleeves and lightweight gloves for my ride in. Felt okay riding, but kind of chilling here at my desk. Blue skies and nice out though.

Brisk!
This must be the tenth of May cold spell, down into the 40s when I left the house. Clear and the wind didn't pick up until I got close to work, so using sun sleeves as arm warmers worked out OK.
The road crew had shut down one lane in the direction I was going for pavement grinding, so after the underpass, I took the parallel street. Well, there's bad pavement (which is what they're scraping off), and then there was awful pavement. I felt like Lance the day he took the shortcut down the mountain in the Tour some years back.

Hey, second day in a row! Weather decided to cooperate, so I rode. No rides for the next two days for sure. Maybe Friday if the weather is decent.
Yesterday, I did something on my fixed gear I've never done before: I did all my hill climbing seated. I always get out of the saddle for standing climbs, but yesterday I was feeling strong, so I decided to try staying seated. Was going pretty slow by the time I got to the tops. Today, my legs are a bit sore, but I think that's more to do with fixie leg braking than the climbs.

I saw 44F on the way in this morning. I pulled out my windchill coat and wore bib tights. I was comfortable if not a little chilly for the first half of the ride. Still glad it was not raining like it was for 4+ miles yesterday.
beautiful ride home yesterday

This morning there was a tent pitched about ten feet off the trail east of this bridge. The tent had some river rocks set around it looking like an archeological excavation of a stone age hut. Maybe it was the rocks he cleared from the spot. I've seen homeless around here before, but hidden off trail like in this copse, never quite so brazen with bike commuters and joggers out and about. I know he pitched the tent since 6pm last night because that's when I rode the same route home.

OK, just kidding. They're about as common as car drivers. Almost. They're everywhere and still growing thanks to Seamless, Uber Eats, and all those other food delivery services. No one cooks in the city any more except for a few of us. Everyone just orders delivery for every meal.

Today was a very nice commute to work even though someone thought they should honk their horn loudly at me. Oh well the remainder of the ride was pleasant.
I have not been able to ride due to health issues that are still ongoing for my husband, but on 5/24/19 the radiation treatments will be over and my life will go back to normal concerning my bike commuting.

Excellent seaside commute again. Sat out on the Pier and had a nice fry up before heading into the lab.
