My neighbor loves to hit estate sales and auctions and I spotted this in his pickup the other week. Nice little Gitane folder in good shape for its age and very little used from the looks of it. He now has it on CL and the price has dropped from $200 to $150. I suggested a hundred bucks when I saw it but he's aiming high.

I had once a folder similar to that and it had been sold by Sears. Actually I may have to look and see if it is still here. Roger

Any help is appreciated. The weak point of this design is the lack of height adjustment of handlebars. I plan to put two quill stems and ape hangers on it.

You can raise and adjust the bars by loosening the clamps on the bar where it goes into the fork. It allows you to both turn and raise them. They look like seat post clamps. Roger

I'm thinking of running Big Apples on my Speed D8, but am worried about two possible issues: the factory rims are only 14mm wide, so I might need to either rebuild my wheels with wider rims or source pre-built wheels; and the chain may not clear the tire in first gear (which is a non-issue for your IGH setup.)

The front is factory, and the rear is a Rhino Light rim. I have no issues, as you mentioned, with the igh. I did have a problem with my Speed P8 in first gear. The chain rubbed the tire, so I had to use narrower tires.

Placed all over campus.

Next to my old dorm
Went for a visit around my one of my old college stomping grounds. Didn’t recognize too much but enjoyed the ride around. Amazed that they have an official bikeshop on campus! Sad when I saw the only clients were riding low end cruisers and Wally World MTBs...

Just came back from volunteering at RAGBRAI.

Saw the usual Bike Fridays and Bromptons, but noted these two.

Raleigh Folder(s) used as a utility bike. They had other and sorry, forgot name of shop.

A fresh Tern ridden by a young lady named Stern. She is going to put an "S" in front of the Tern labels. Pretty cool.

Riding the Cross Vermont Trail on my Origami Crane. Note the black fly on my water bottle in the second picture. They were vicious today when I stopped.

At Pismo Beach’s famous Butterfly Grove which hosts tens of thousands of Monarch Butterflies each year as they migrate N to S, and S to N. Sadly, late Aug/early Sept. for their next appearance en masse....of course this picture taken EARLY August 😩
