What flash setting do you use on your rear blinkey?

I have all four LEDs blink at the same time. I direct it just towards the cars, instead of straight back, and aim the center at about driver's eye height for about 30 m away.

What do you do?

Currently only have two rear lights. The rack mounted one lacks any kind of strobe mode and the seat post one I run on the only strobe mode that it has.

German bike with dynohub, so steady red is the only available mode.

Flashing, and it only has one LED (Cygolite Hotshot). I use one of the maximum-output flash modes at a pretty fast flash rate (it's adjustable).

On the bike:
  • PBSF on strobe
  • German steady read on rack
On the backpack:
  • Strobe
On the helmet:
  • Planet Bike Blinky on the little swivel dealy that keeps it level, on "blink"
So, can't vote, since I use steady and blinking and strobes

PBSF Turbos on all bikes running in flash mode whenever on the road. Add a PBSF Turbo in steady mode if it is dark out.

Triple-led Dutch dynamo-driven light on rack which is always on always accompanied by 3 -or -9 led flashing lights either on seat-post or on rack bag (whenever installed).

3 Magicshine tail light. One pointed straight back, the other two are about 30 degree angled outward and set on blink mode.

Two PBSF, both on flashing mode. Their flashes are slightly out of sync, so they essentially pulse in and out of each other's patterns. Nice for visibility.

German B&M 4D toplight.. it has no blinking mode,
just a very big red rack light with 180 degree visibility.

running off the hub dynamo, or if switched on, the battery.

senso plus .. senso mode is detecting motion and light.
the regular, (non plus, dynamo), battery version in daylight will
be off, but if you ride thru a tunnel, the flashing mode kicks in ..
then it's a half second interval..
turns off again in the daylight or in 4 minutes if you park your bike
and turn the room light off.

Normally, I use two rear lights, one flashing and one steady. If I only have one for some reason, I use it on flashing mode if there's enough light that my body might be visible -- otherwise I use it on steady.

I prefer a flashing mode that always has at least one LED illuminated.

Steady. I remember being told a blinking light causes some kind of target fixation. They're bad enough w/o helping them.

PBSF in steady, Radbot on default, Tate's BAL on steady, Blackburn Flea attached to a clip on my jacket on flash.

Getting a Hotshot this week. I'll experiment with it a little, but it will be on steady or slow flash.

During the day in traffic I'll put the radbot on psycho flash.

Radbot 500 on the slow flash mode -- I want to be seen, not to be distracting. If riding with other bikes, I'll put it on steady.

I have a cheap (nevertheless bright) Zefal taillight. It has four settings -- off, steady, slow/steady flash, staccato/frenetic flash.

I go frenetic, every time; it's more bizarre, therefore more likely to catch attention.

My main light, a Blackburn Mars 4, I always turn on to steady. My bar end Soma Road Flares and my Cateye LD600 on the helmet are always flashing; the two different lights can't flash the same because they each have their own built in timing.

If this were true, fire trucks with extremely powerful omnidirectional strobes aimed in every direction would be a serious hazard, leaving carnage in their wake

I think that I might have the same one as you around here somewhere. It would fit the bill nicely on the MUP, but I wouldn't trust it on the streets.

On a side note, if that is the same as yours, did you get the combo pack like I did? And if so, how is your front light holding up? Mine changes modes or refuses to work period ...

Back on topic, I"m planning on getting another rear light- just as soon as I shore up the head light department
