Any other old timers enjoy riding slow?

I'm glad someone finally brought up one of the existential aspects of bike riding. It's like Tai Chi, a slow, meditative and spiritually enriching approach to cycling. It's why, I think, I so enjoy multi-mile climbs on a mountain bike. I enjoy the same climbs on pavement, of course, but the auto traffic interferes with my chakra alignment. Or something like that.

Every once in a while I like pushing myself where I'll average around 15 mph over 10-15 miles just to stay for but for the most part I enjoy a more relaxed pace of 10-12 mph. Where I can more enjoy the scenery around me. A lot of riders get too worked up over how fast a pace they can keep and miss everything that's going on around them.

I like comfortable. What speed is that in mph? Individually, its your speed not to perspire when you stop. It must be close to slow.
I have an ebike. An ebike's pedal assist's slow might be faster than a standard bike's pedal slow to achieve no sweat.
If slow means not fatigued, then arent distance and effort added factors to the variables?
In summary, slow could mean sweat and fatigue producing. Regardless, I like slow.

I don't care what my speed is, and I don't have any gadgets telling me how fast I'm going. I go as fast or slow as I like, and so far I've always got to where I was going.

Part of enjoying riding slow is old timers reconciling themselves to the simple reality that getting fast just ain't in the cards anymore but it's still rewarding to play the game.

In reality most of us just ride at the speed that feels right at the time. We are not a slave to a speedometer or how fast that someone else has determined everyone should ride.

OP yes I enjoy riding slow on my trike with my chihuahua along with in the basket. Glad I can still ride, and it gives me a great deal of pleasure to ride slowly and carefully.

I guess at 50 I'm not an old timer yet, but I have a terrible time forcing myself to go slow. For my longer rides I have to remind myself to leave some effort in reserve for later in the ride. On rides less than 28 miles I pour it on even when I start out telling myself I'm going to take it easy this time.
I don't know why... something about my bike makes me want to push.

My normal speed is 10 mph, sometimes when the wind is on my back and a slight downhill I'll go into "heart attack" speed about 14 mph. 67 years young and ride a fat tire bike.

For me, how fast I go really depends on what the purpose of my ride is for the day. I mostly fitness ride (3 to 4 days a week) for about 15 to 20 miles each time out. I've got mostly hills to contend with around here which is a good news, bad news sort of thing. Pedaling up those hills is good news for the fitness part of it but bad news if I were a mph counter (which I'm not). The app on my phone says I average about 11 mph. My wife and I like riding some nearby Rails/Trails which are pretty much flat terrain. For those we go at what I call a "smell the roses" average pace of about 8 to 10 mph (again, according to the app) and usually go 30 miles or so but we're talking and enjoying the sights... fitness isn't the purpose. So another piece of good news about the hills around here is those 30 mile Rail/Trail rides are a whole lot less tiring for me than the 15 or 20 mile fitness rides. Either way, fitness rides or pleasure, at 69 years I'm just happy I can ride at all !

It's the only speed I have, so I might as well enjoy it..
Took about 2 months on the west coast of Ireland before crossing over the Donnegal, Derry border to Northern Ireland ..
It included significant hanging out as well as riding ..

Fast? Slow? Riding bicycles, just as it was with motorcycles, has always been a quiet contemplative time for me. I rode with a few lifelong friends back in the day but I'd rather ride at my own pace. And once I was married my wife just quietly enjoyed the view and the ride. I think I'm just hard to get along with.

If you ever find you're ever getting a bit too competitive with yourself... it sometimes pays to put the bike on the shelf for a week or two to get your mind straight then bring'r down and enjoy the ride that your body and not your mind want to set or, you just might mess up a good thing.
