WELL They use the same batteries packs. Head lamp 3up xpg was $60 vs older xml 3up. The xml light over heats with three leds on past 30min, I used to run it on med mode only which is plenty bright and draws 2100mah. XML is Pretty floods light so always needed to be paired with something that had some throw on it.

Battery packs are $30 shipped from Hunk_Lee on eBay.

$20 amazon 3up

@RubeRad true, the xpg light cost was 35 pounds and the shipping/tax from europe was another 20 pounds

External Build quality is night n day between them. I haven't torn the new one apart but the old one has artic silver added when I dissected it, and still overheats last time I used it. Not cool to when it goes dark and I'm on a single track!!!

I've done that - on a regular trainer - not Zwifting. But still. It was an old wheel however and I'd already broken one spoke on it. And only 20 spokes. I retired it.

Pfft ... far from it ... and it's just my dedicated trainer wheel, so I can use the regular one for a day or two ...

bleh ... kind of jarred me though, hearing it SPRONK indoors. Usually I barely notice it due to the outside noise/wind. This sounded like the whole damn wheel exploded

Solution: get an older kickr! It will be so loud you won't hear the spoke and you won't care because the wheel will be sitting on the floor next to the trainer anyway. Direct drive yo.

i want to be allowed to ride

speaking of wheels — anyone have a spare wheel set they want to let go cheap? Or even just a spare rear?

considering most of your rides are 3000ft of climbing, yes the Doc will sign off on the trainer.

No spare wheels, just spare bikes

Doc said no riding for 2 weeks! Before he slit my throat open and stuff, even.

I have a trainer. I realized new wheels were cheaper than a new trainer and solve the same problem.

Apparently, I have gone on a bike parts feeding frenzy

New tyres for MTB? Check -- Maxxis Minion DHF and Aggressor
New rim strips so I can run the new tyres tubeless? Check
Oh I want to refresh the MTB -- new group set (M8000 XT)? Check
Oh it's currently a GXP BB? New hollowtech II BB. Check.

Oh, the roadbike needs some love? November Cafe Racer/i9 wheels shipped
Oh, I want a spare wheelset for the OTHER roadbike? Co-workers old wheels acquired. Check.

I blame @jsigone, as usual. He started talking about MTB stuff. Must be all his fault, right??

In other news, there are actual pictures of me riding a bike, from Day of the Tread at the end of last month.

Are you going to brave 1x11 MTB with that hill in your backyard ? ?

blame me all you want, but you know night riding on the MTB is WAAAAAY safer than being on Paved road and people that can bairly drive w/ the sun up. Bright lights both front and rear.
I'm going to helmet mount the new 3up LED. Using the lyzne gopro mount.

https://www.bikebling.com/Lezyne-LED...-gpad-v104.htm

will look like this and battery in the camelbak

oh and I hope your MTB has 11spd hub buddy

Blame in a good way. I think 2x11 should be fine; there are trailheads close to me, too.

I can avoid the little hill that is Sandia Crest
As fo the hub — 10 and 11 mountain is the same. I think (hope).

night ride in the canyon was low of 40 degrees at about 8pm.....less than 5 miles from the ocean. BURRR

We've been riding for over an hour already, we drop in off the top on our MTB, there was a group at the bottom in the low section fixing a flat. Who gets flats on MTB anymore. Oh well. Half the group was in full long bibs, jackets and ski masks. I'm thinking to myself WTH are they over dressed? our group is in shorts and some without jackets. about 5 mins later my ears are frozen at the tips. We get back to the parking lot about 5 miles down, the B group beat us back and had a fire pit and was drinking single malt scotch.

2hr ride w/ a group on the trails is WAY better than being out there solo. the Scotch was good too

So I'm two weeks post rotator cuff and bicep tendon repair in my right shoulder. Oh man it sucks. Sleep is tough to come by as I'm stuck in an immobilizer when I sleep and can't sleep in my usual positions. I started PT this week. I'm off bike for the foreseeable future. Ugh

Thanks for the update, I was just wondering the other day. That's a tough one, my business partner had this surgery back in February, he's still in PT. More functional now, if he were a cyclist he'd be able to ride, but it takes a while.

One thing he told me, no one told him to flex his elbow, wrist and hand several times a day during the initial recovery. This set him back and is still affecting him. If they did not talk to you about this, follow up right away. My father just had shoulder replacement last week, and due to his age he was in the hospital for a few days, so he got a PT visit. She went into this at length and showed us how he should do this while still protecting the shoulder.

Good luck.

I'm bending my arm and such often ... just no lifting or reaching. I only had the one full tear and 1 partial of the bicep something or other. Sleeping is the hardest thing for me. This immobilizer sucks at night.
