I'm not a fan of speed. Want speed, just buy a motorcycle (I have a few).

But being well past the 1/2 century mark, I like e-bikeing to extend my range and help on some short grades. Eco mode and splitting the input required is great. I'm riding and pedaling and going less than 20'ish. But I'm hauling the groceries and getting home in less than an hour.

Our bike routes are jarring enough w/o big speed. Uneven surfaces abound

At my age, getting off hard at speed is prolly a no-come-back ... Just use common sense

Odd, cause a quick look at Cdales commuting ebike line shows either Shimano STePS or Bosch Performance CX motors, both of which are limited to 20mph:

I presume you have single speeds for your hill riding?

Moto-doping already exists.

We've had a few people busted in national competitions.

If you want to go over 20mph, you just have to spend the money. There's an old dude in my area with a Juiced CrossCurrent X, who just zips around the neighborhood snagging KOMs all day long. Uphill at 25mph? No problem. I have to flag at least one of his rides a week as "wrong activity type."

The funny part is, I would think it would be faster than it actually is when going downhill-- it has a motor and it weighs 60lbs. But nope. His speed up the hill is usually 2-3mph faster than down. Maybe he coasts?

As you should. As unorganized and sporadic and as much as I may not care one bit about it, Strava is a form of competition and ebikes shouldn't have times recorded.

There’s a little drop-down menu for Strava activities, and E-Bike Ride is like the 3rd one down. So it’s just laziness. Or wanting to be on leaderboards that they have no business being on.

Being on leaderboards that they have no business being on. Sounds about right.

High tech nano machines are the next step , programned to give accurate bio data , make the user's cardio system more efficiant that naturally possible , even slow heart rate and capture oxygen .

Most likey is already being used , and they can dissolve themselves when done .

Comparing the use of gears to the use of a motor.
