I would think a very late 1960s or early 1970s production for your Carre/Lejeune/Elvish due to production details. Your bike's production details are similar to this Carre/Lejeunne:
There are further details here at Classic Factory lightweights including what is possibly Jan Janssen's TdF bike by Carre. Glad you are getting the background to the bike that the originally seller cannot or will not provide. Be aware that bikes were often re-decaled to suit racers who changed teams but not bikes. It was far easier and cheaper to re-spray and re-decal in a new livery than provide an amateur or semi-pro with new equipment.

I cannot agree with your dating. Two reasons. As I stated in my own dating post, the 531 decal used appears starting around 1973. One can say that it might have been put on later, but why would it? It was a chrome bike. It is highly unlikely that it was rechromed and then had the 531 decal placed on it. AFA characteristics, the photo shown has different lugs, lugs often seen in the late 60s early 70s on Lejeune. The lugs on the OP's bike are of a type that I see appearing on 73 and up Carré and Lejeunes. It does share certain production details with the earlier dating, but I believe the lugs and crown as they appear put it later. Save for the windows in the lugs, it is pretty much a dead ringer for a couple of my Lejeunes that are dated 1973 or later.
No matter the date, it is a killer bike and one I would be proud to have in my collection.

I know it has been awhile but I only just now got to follow up on this thread.

Reynolds tubing transfers
Althou i have found older Carré frames that are very similar, i have seen quite a few newer that are even more similar. Post 73 Elvish bike frames ive seen, althou not as high end as the chromed exemple were talking about, seem to have* a Carré influence in the way they are assembled..*

Here's a gold Gitane TdF I bought off Craigslist in October. In high school (1973) I rode my first one all over Eastern North Carolina while my friends were riding Schwinns! Talk about follow the leader. So now, 45 years older and 50 lbs heavier, after looking for another TdF on Craigslist for 3 years (sold my first one in college, and regretted it ever since), I'm finally losing weight, getting over saddle sores and remembering why I love this model so much. Didn't know they produced gold ones though until I spotted this one...1973-4 model.

Beautiful bike, recommend some Veloflex Master 25’s over the Panaracers...

Thank you Lynn!
Noticed that it not only has Bernard's seat stay caps and fish mouths but the gear cable guide on the right seat stay as well.
Gorgeous frame.
Thank you for posting jboisleduc.

I am still trying to find production year of my Elvish Carré frame.. I thought maybe adding pictures could help.
Possibly someone would be able to tell what years Cycles Elvish was using that ''E'' head badge...
Althou most parts seem to have been upgraded, im thinking the seatpost i got it with (JPR 26.4mm) could still be original...
And maybe the saddle too...
What do you guys think?

A brace of Peugeots
Had a couple of wins on Ebay recently (absolutely no alcohol involved).
First one was (I think) an early 1970s 5 speed, which my son's appropriated for college and work - cool retro or something along those lines. The photo is as it was when collected; I've redone the brakes since with new cables and pads, and he's put on new bar tape and changed the saddle (an Ideale No. 39) - "I'm not sitting on THAT, Dad". Against my advice (well, he's a teenager, no chance of listening to Dad) he's taken off the mudguards (the seller included a full rear guard as well as the short one on the bike) and the rack. Rides really nicely now, and the 5-speed works out well for him as the rides to his college and workplace are flat.
No idea what the model is, but I'm sure someone can help me out. The frame number's 2085237, if that helps.
Second one's a Festina Team Replica I bought from a seller in France as a frameset. The frame arrived very well packed and in good condition, only a few minor paint chips. I added a pair of wheels and a set of Tiagra brifters I bought locally, and built it with bits from boxes in the garage. The ride isn't bad at all for a 1990s aluminium frame, certainly a big improvement over my other aluminium bike.

Peugeot PH10S back on the road after 37 years
Brought my dad's '82 Peugeot back into action after being stored since almost new, he rode it for maybe a year and then it was a garage ornament. Tore it down and built it back up, all original except for tires, chain, cables & housings, bearings, grease, handlebar tape, and brake pads. Oh yeah, had to replace the front derailleur since the delrin had cracked on the simplex one, common problem I guess. Really smooth riding machine.

is there one of these on the thread ? Alex Singer "Sportif" built for me in year 2000. It has the larger "cyclo touring" rear rack.
I rode it from Seattle -> San Diego in 2009.

My 1970s Peugeot UE8 Barn Find.
Used this as my college commuter. I love using the old generator light when it gets dark. It really stands out and it might get stolen one day...
