CCR: Cosmo's Factory (1970) album cover bike

I tend to think it was a Schwinn Varsity. I recall Varsities coming in a blue color similar to pic … a transparent or "Candy" blue. The Brits called that "flamboyant."

The suicide brake levers, chrome dork disc, and chrome pants-protector on the outside of the big chainring are consistent with a 1970 Schwinn.
And I almost think I can see the ends of the stem-mounted shift levers they used...though it's hard to tell if those are downtube cablestops or downtube shifters.
I'm actually spending more time gawking at the tuck&roll Kustom bass amp.

I agree with the Schwinn theory as I think the guys would have stuck with an American brand.

Look at the BB, large diameter indicates Ashtabula. And definitely stem shifters, can see the loop of the cable housing. Very likely Schwinn.

somebody on this forum has this as his/her avatar. kinda like it, but can't make out what the bike is...
i originally thought this was an album cover, but wiki says it was the envelope for a 45rpm. the story behind it was fascinating. 65 naked babes (professional models) riding bikes in a stadium. pic is a photo of one participant. the bikini bottom was an airbrush add-on so us teen males wouldn't lose our minds..

Yeah I wouldn't take much notice of the brake safety levers. Those were pretty much standard issue on cheap catalogue mail order bikes of the period. Totally useless they were too!

Cosmo's Factory is one of the best albums of all-time.
They were great live. When Tom Fogerty quit the band, they weren't as good without the the second guitar laying down a solid rhythm, and it forced John to try to carry both loads and it is my opinion that the only guitarist who really was great at doing that was Pete Townshend and maybe Jimi Hendrix and sometimes Ronnie Wood when in The Faces (1970-75). Clapton, Page, and Beck, as great as they were couldn't do both, well certainly Alvin Lee of Ten Years After at times and Eddie Van Halen certainly at times too but those last names could do things that probably nobody before or since them has been able to do.
I've seen Fogerty solo many times live too, beginning in '86 when he went back on stage after more than 14 years since the final CCR tour in 1972. He was good but it was a downer at the time that he refused to play any CCR material because he didn't want to make Saul Zantz and Fantasy any richer. You know if you have the original CENTERFIELD LP that it has the original song title and sung lyrics that is applicable to that saga. He got sued and was forced to make changes to the LP.
So in 1986, Fogerty was performing most of "Centerfield" LP and "Eye of Zombie" LP/cd and the song Rockin' All Over The World from his 1975 solo album and maybe sometimes a song from the Blue Ridge Rangers LP from 1973.
JOHN FOGERTY IS BEYOND GREAT IN CONCERT TODAY!! IF YOU GET THE CHANCE TO SEE HIM, GO !!!
His voice is as good as it has ever been. He is having a ball on stage and it really shows as he is happy and having fun and jumping all around with energy of a young man, and he knows how to deliver an upbeat rock n roll show that never ever disappoints.
I recorded the show a few years ago from my seat with a tiny 8cm X 7cm ancient turn of the century digital Sharp md and homemade stereo mic using very tiny Panasonic electret condensers (lapel type) affixed to my hat. The performance and sound quality is amazing despite the fact that we were sitting in the cheap seats, up high and straight way back. His sons were playing in the band and Kenny Aronoff who played drums in John Cougar's incredible band (mellencamp) forty years ago and the 80's.
I sent him a copy on CDR.
Anybody know what bicycle appears on the cover for EVIE SANDS "Anyway That You Want Me" (single) 1969 or the "ANYWAY THAT YOU WANT ME" LP 1970 ??

Here we go again ... zombie thread revivals, shaving, poo-poo threads ...
'General Cycling' has now, I think, officially jumped the shark.
Sad.

Old threads? No. Old posts? Depends. It's always funny when someone asks a question of the person who posted 7 years ago, or even better, tries to argue with them.
I have a few 3 year old posts on this 8 year old thread myself.

I love a good thread revival.
Good on ya, @Spellscape!
Give credence where due, they were better musicians than cyclists.
