Just wondering who else is making a flat mount disc jig. I know that Anvil was, and Incepi was also, but their site is down or they're down for the count.

I'm not all that familiar with tool makers just yet.

The Anvil only worked on rear mounts anyway. Only one I have ever seen for forks was incepi

I looked for a flat mount jig a couple of months ago and came up with the same as you did no Anvil and no Incepi to be found. I did not find anything else.

If you have better luck please let us know.

I'm sure someone, possibly Joe at Cobra, will step in to fill the void left by Anvil. In the meantime, I'll work on making something and post it here. My work schedule is a little hectic right now, so I don't know when that will happen.

I know Don didn't make any money on the Anvil fixture, but I wasn't a big fan of it. It relies on some little spacers that are a pain to keep track of. Since it's an adapter, it's inelegant. I was never sure how the Incepi worked, I think you had to get it on the axle at the right place somehow that was not obvious. Could be wrong though.

I recently saw somewhere that Joe is working on a frame fixture otherwise he would take on the brake fixture. I also saw that PVD is working on one with some other folks.

Prototype Flat Mount rear fixture. That means this one will be mine. If I make any more, they will probably be all one piece. The original idea was to make interchangeable inserts for front and rear, but they are too different to make that practical.

Nice work on your fixture! I imagine it slides onto an Anvil dummy axle. How do you phase the flat mount bosses so their slots are parallel to each other and the rear axle? I think Anvil's fixture had oval shoulders that fit into the bosses to keep them aligned, but I could be wrong.

That is something that I thought about, but I didn't want to add that level of complexity to this manual machining project. I will probably be using one piece mounts that have both slots already phased. This was designed to push the mount fully outboard when bolting it to the fixture. I don't think it will be too much of an issue to make another insert with a shoulder, if necessary. Although that shoulder will be a rectangle and not an oval.

I actually made an adapter for my Feng Shui that should work well for the rear brake. I think the other fixture I made will work for the front with a fork mount adapter plate.

someone posted some designs on FB, and I was impressed about how much better an adapter works on an ISO fixture than it does on a post mount fixture.

Those designs are what inspired me to make the Feng Shui adapter. After making the adapter, I can tell you that the design posted for this purpose will be problematic. He has not taken the standoffs into account on the Feng Shui and therefore you would need to space the fixture about 17mm away from the dropout face to have the flat mount holes in the right place. At that distance away from the dropout face, the fixture is almost falling off the 19mm part of the dummy axle. I appreciate his sentiment in trying to find an inexpensive solution and sharing it, but he should have done some real world testing of the concept.

After an absence from the market, incepi disc mount fixtures are available. ISO and Post Mount fixtures are in stock, and Flat Mount fixtures are on order and expected soon.
