Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bit of a blast from the past: my 1998 Peloton 8200. Was one of the last level-top-tube road bikes Giant sold, I think, the sloping-top-tube frames had started to show up in the catalogue at the time. It's seen a few bursts of riding over the decades but not enough, and now I'm starting to get riding seriously again with it. Telling myself I can look at a Defy once I've got a full season on this one.

Not entirely sold on the positioning, I think I might swap out the bar with a Soma Hwy 1.

Well I wanted Di2 (not pictured) over Italian EPS but didn't want to compromise my wheels with another pair of Zipp's or Enve's :

need advice on colour choice

hi i have two giants one a
2012 tcr advanced pro 0 and have been very happy with it so when i saw a 2016 propel advanced 0 in original standard as new condition for sale at a good price i jumped at it, has i love the look and reviews of the propel and so far am also very happy with it but have made a few changes to the propel using bits from my other bikes IE bars, seat and wheels and have now ordered some new full carbon wheels but unfortunately just dont like the combination of colours especially the lime on the forks so am toying with a respray of front end to take out the blue and lime except where it stands out in the giant decal from bb to seat post
if i do this it will be all black apart from the blue in the giant decal
any opinions and i know i shouldn't have bought a colour i didn't love but the size spec and price blinded my judgement

My 2012 Defy Advanced. Sadly I never did ride it with those wheels...after purchase news came in that my company may shut down so I sold them in order to pay off an outstanding bill. I've had my 30mm Kinlins on it ever since. Still a fantastic bike...and good news was that company did NOT shut down and we are still going strong today.

Yeah, I like the blue with the black, and the blue with the yellow or lime or whatever, but not with both. That's not one of their most visually successful schemes. I'm not a big fan of mostly black bikes with just a little blue and would be inclined to simply replace the lime with white, but if you like black bikes, leaving just the seat post field color as blue (maybe the inside of the forks, too?) sounds reasonable.

change of plan after friend showed me a (professional) job he d had done on his bike ,even though he loved it i recon it looks cheap and nasty so think ill just stop looking at the green /lime /yellow bits and just get better at cycling also has winter is closing in here it wont be the bike im on most of the time for a few months

Thanks! I was actually apprehensive about ordering it sight-unseen but once I saw it in person, I was very impressed with the color and quality. And I think the R8000 group looks great on this frame (plus I have 11-30 in the back!)...

Really nice looking ride.
I'd be interested to know what it weighs as shown?

15 lbs 13 oz with everything you see in the pic... Not bad, considering you can easily drop another 80 grams by swapping out that saddle.
