Steelwool Hubs

Does anyone have any experience with these? I just won a pair yesterday and they look freakin' DOPE. thinking of lacing them to some black open pros... or maybe some DTs. Any suggestions?

Learn how to operate camera?
Poor photography aside, I think they look like nice hubs, black rims would be nice. I would go OP, or maybe some velocity aeroheads, I think those rims look way nice.

I'd like to see better pictures, and know a bit more about them. To say the steelwool website is sparse would be an understatement. Are they sealed bearing? Anybody know what they retail for, I couldnt find them anywhere. Most of the other steelwool stuff looks like rebranded track bits, the cranks look like the alien bikes/IRO ones. Anybody have info on em?

The shop I worked at sells Steelwool stuff, the hubs are pretty nice. They have sealed bearings, retail price on the rear hub if I remember correctly was about $100 CAD for the rear and $85 for the front.

Not too sure about the new '08 cranks, they changed up their bikes and parts a lot this year.

well, from their company website it looks like lots of rebranded budget-ish parts ala alien bikes, though those hubs look really nice.

THey do. I'm looking at one, and aside from the cutouts they seem identical, right down to the stamping between the spoke holes, though mine say A•L instead of A•H. I wonder if that is some sort of date code.

Yeah, I'd go with black. I wonder if your front wheel can be laced radial with these hubs. I haven't found any info on the Steelwool website. Then again, I do lack in my information gathering skills.

I don't know if I could get myself to pay $150 to $175 for a pair of those. The hardware looks a lot like the dimension stuff too.

Sweet that you won them. Winning hubs is always a double edged sword though. You just got something for free that would have cost you a bunch of money, but they are completely useless until you put a bunch more money into it. I always liked the idea of including free labor to build them with any hub prize. But it's hard to get shops to give away free labor.

On this website, the LE gold are $144 a pair while the regular pewter finish is sold separately and is cheaper
