I am in the states. I saw this bike last Saturday at the Chicago bike show. It was in nice original condition with all Super Record in nice condition. It was either a 56 or a 58 depending on how you measured it. It did have numerous chips especially on the seat stays. I will probably not buy it. If anyone is interested in it here is how I contacted him again. ( He still wouldn't lower his price). Go to Chicago Craigslist. Go to bikes. Type in Cyclery North. That will bring up the TT funnybike frame that he also had at the show. You can then contact him. Good luck.

FFS 5 speed Tourist finally reborn! This was a $20 thrift store find 1.5 years ago... I was excited about it when I bought it - then I destroyed (and subsequently learned of this terrible thing) the FFS. I'd been using the wheels on my first SS conversion, while the rack, bottoms bracket, cranks, pedals, and handlebars came off of the mountain bike commuter I haven't been riding recently (so slow). I'd been thinking about this frame lately and finally got it back together using parts from my other bikes, now it's time to start commuting again.

I just picked up an original 1975 Panasonic Sport Deluxe at the thrift shop. It is not the greatest, or lightest (31 lbs!), but I have been looking for an original POS 10-speed for kicking around town. I will post pictures as I am able.

One oddity. It has 27x1 3/8 Specialized cyclocross tires. Why on earth do these exist? I cannot think of one 27" cyclocross wheeled bike, ever!

Probably the pinnacle of all Panasonics: Handmade, silver brazed in small series. You paid 6998 guilders for it back than in 1991. An ancient currency, but to give an idea: It would have set you substantially more back than a Record equipped Colnago. It also had a mountainbike counterpart, the MC Team. Recepy: Prestige silver brazed with lug, teampaint. Full XTR.

Bought an early 80's DX-2000. It is made by hand of high tensile steel. Was hoping for CrMo but it is still not heavy and rides very well.

Cross post from the retro / neuvo thread. I've only had this for a few months, but it's a keeper. The internal cable routing works fine, but I'm not thrilled about removing the BB for cable changes. Built with Prestige tubing.

Very nice rig that must be. Sounds it is pretty much alike the PR-6000, but with routing through the tubing. Too bad I can't see it very well because the pic is cropped so poorly. I now notice it happended to mine too Is there an explanation for this?

I saw that one on CL too but it smelled really fishy to me. I'd bet my car it wasn't the frame "as pictured" for $25... the term "file photo" certainly comes to mind.

I recently picked up this 1985 Panasonic Touring Deluxe. All I added were fenders and new tires. Tange 1000 tubing.

Two Schwinnsonics. '85 Peloton and a '77 LeTour. My '81 Traveler(not shown) apparently was made by Giant in Taiwon. I would definately dig a "real" Panasonic. Many nice bikes shown so far!

I've got a Panasonic Sport 500 that I found in really bad shape. Since it was a low end frame and in such bad condition, turned it into a fixed gear around town bike. I'll post it if people want...but I don't want to ruffle any feathers by posting a "Drewed" bike!

Never were any water bottle cage mounts. Left the eyelets for fenders. Filed off the brake cable guides.

I think it turned out pretty good and building it up taught me a lot about bicycle work. If people would like to see it in the thread, lemme know.

Bought it as frame only a couple of years ago. I made several modifications since that pic, but you get the idea. Original specs were full DX, T-bone Prestige stem, Strong post, Turbo seat... Japanese all the way, except for the Turbo.

This MC-Comp was not for the US market, as by 1991 Panasonic had already left the US market.

I picked up this Panasonic MC2500, estimated vintage 1989.


It's a really LARGE bike, with a 24 inch seat tube. The frame is chromoly, fully lugged with horizantal dropouts. The components are Suntour index 18 speed with a Suntour Accushift 2000 rear derailer. It would make a good fixie frame for a really tall person.

i got this bike off craigslist for $120. i need new wheels, tires and a tune up. can anybody tell me what wheel and tire size to get, i know these aren't the original sizes. and also what year is this bike?

Your DX-3000 is a 1986 model. Original wheels where Ukai 20A, 700c with 700x25x Panaracers.
