What did they total?
EDIT: That could be taken the wrong way. What I meant was, what did they end up declaring a total loss?

^ I got off pretty lucky. cut my hand pretty good, ground down my thumb on the road, hematoma on my hip. Hit my head pretty hard, but no headach or anything so the helmet worked.
Not a lot of road rash, because I went pretty much straight down, not a lot of sliding.
Expensive though. Prescription sunglasses destroyed, helmet toast, brooks leather bar tape destroyed, and I think the carbon bars are toast (there's about a 1 inch spot right in the curve of the drops that's abraded down into the fiber).

So, did the ride stop for you?

I'm hoping I don't die of heat exhaustion today given the oppressive heat and humidity. I was going to get my riding in early this morning but didn't wake up early enough so I commuted in to work. Needless to say I will be taking it very easy on the ride home.

It's enough that I could buy a caad 10 w/Rival, sell the PT & get a quarq, and come out slightly ahead.
slap on some psimet-tubulars and I'm the ultimate BF racer.

hanging out at work, most people are working from home. I'm at the Transmission control center, since there's nobody at my normal work. Not a lot to do, especially since I don't have my dual monitors, which makes it annoying to do a lot of my stuff.
Sorry to hear about the crash, that's one you hate, since it's preventable.

Things are replaceable. More importantly glad to hear you're none the worse for wear.

People....quit crashing!
OK - so I had a meeting with my boss. He's been toying with the idea of getting me Black Belt certification. Here's his hangup:
"Rob, you are probably here less than anyone else in the entire organization. Here I have this really bright guy who can do some amazing things who I can't seem to get engaged. I have to find the solution. I need your help finding a solution."
I wanted to scream, "THEN LET's START MAKING BICYCLE WHEELS AND PARTS!"
I need to figure something out. I'm not doing this company any good right now, and I am not doing my business any good by only doing it part time. I just need to be able to figure out where the line for transition is. I can't seem to figure that out. In some ways I am better off just going for it and then coming back to a real job when it goes south. hat way I can concentrate better....
...who am I kidding...I will never concentrate on 1 thing.

Psimet - Why do you have a 9-5 job? It sounds like you should be a consultant. Tell your boss that in order to get more engaged you are going to quit. They can hire you back as a consultant. You can then advertise your skills to the rest of the industry (or other industries). Seems like that would be a good way to have multiple interesting projects that you can concentrate on intensely for short periods. With the increased spare time you can build wheels.

Some of you musicians out there should record something with the Google home page today and then share it with us.

Gave my notice this morning. I'd been dreading it and procrastinated for several days but first thing today I made appointments with the scheduling secretary for a face to face. Both my immediate boss and my boss of bosses were surprisingly supportive and congratulatory. Almost a hint of envy, even.
Last day here is June 30. Then family vacation, language study, and prep work for a consulting gig in the fall.
Phew. A huge weight off my shoulders. I feel free.

And the first thing I'm going to do on July 1st is write a letter to the Bee complaining about state workers and their outrageous pensions and benefits!

Engineer: That's BS!
Me: Well, why don't you go work for a non-union shop?
Engineer: I like the pay and benefits here.
Me: (head explodes)
