New here, been biking since I worked my ass off for a farmer at 12 years old and spent my entire summer's wages on a 1986 Dyno Detour. Been in MTB since 1996 then a biking hiatus since about 2001 (bad decade of broken bones for me)
So, I know this isn't the intro forum - I purchased a very low budget SSFG and while I went with relatively conservative colors, I'm a bit concerned that I'm gonna look like a poser. I'm the last to be concerned about how I'm viewed. Just a bit excited to be back in and see how I like a FG!
Oh - what did I get you ask?
... a cheap 58cm Markfit (under 200)

enjoy it. ride a ton. and get ready to buy a new bike or keep upgrading, it's an obsession.
I'd say a poser is moreso the kid on a 1500 dollar pista that he can't properly ride as opposed to someone starting out on a cheap bike.

I've been riding around Sac for years. You will have to try really hard to look like a poser. Just ride.

Your cog is slipping.

Fiveflat - You certainly went about this the right way. You knew it was a cheap bike when you bought it and it's cool that you're not concerned with trivial stuff. A lot of people buy these bikes with intentions of putting lipstick on a pig and get pissy when told they should've just bought a better bike to begin with.

I sense a hint of sarcasm in this post.

Don't need lipstick, just gotta make 'em squeel like a pig
But that is my main concern. I like a bike with risers (MTB) but I may end up with drop bars. I suppose they can go on my next one though...

Downtown riding is fun. Climb up the parking garages for great night time views.
