I tried out some new bars this morning - Alpina 33s. They're on the track bike.

It was very strange at first. I really couldn't go hard in a straight line, but then I started getting used to it. Still not sold on whether I want to stick with bar so narrow, but we will see.

The front chainring is throwing the chain off towards the inside in high torque situations. Any pro tips? Cassette and chain are still fairly new I think.

More tension on the front derailleur cable. If it's 11-speed Shimano, the easiest way to do this is to install an in-line barrel adjuster. I didn't have this issue with 10-speed.

I'd like to buy some Vittoria Corsa G+ tires and latex tubes for my race bike. The prices from PBK are tempting. Anyone have any experience with them recently? I did a few years ago but all I complain about was the shipping being slow, but it was fine outside of that.

The last few times I've ordered from the UK it was from Merlin. Shipping was fast, usually 3-4 days. I don't know how the prices compare.

Yeah, PBK is fine. Shipping speed is hit or miss, sometimes it can take a while so if I need to have something by a specific date I wouldn't order from any of the UK shops.

I ordered Ultegra Shifters from PBK back on 9/30/2017 (a Saturday). Received them on 10/13/2017. So really that's about 10 business days I guess.


That seems about average for me, I think I've ordered from them two maybe three times. Items I've ordered from Merlin generally arrive about 3-4 days faster than from PBK. But since it's not time sensitive no worries.

I think my last order from PBK took about a week to the west coast. And those tires are awesome, so worth the wait.

I ordered wheels from PBK back in July and they took like 6+ weeks to arrive. Maybe acceptable if that is your expectation going in to it but its a PITA when you were hoping to get them in 1-2 weeks.

I noticed today that I adjust a lot of the saddle. fore - aft fore -aft. Like breathing, once I noticed it I couldn't stop noticing it and it was annoying.

That's funny. I was doing the same thing. Happens from time to time. Usually makes me play with, or want to play with, the fore-aft.

I have ~50k miles on my scott foil from 2013 and I just emailed scott to see if they could dig up a seatpost with setback for it. I wasn't on that bike today, but it is maybe a little odd that I can ride a bike for thousands of hours and then decide "yep, need to move the saddle back 5mm..."

I cracked a saddle in August and have been in a world of suck moving things 1mm this way and that. Never mind I have the exact measurements from where it was when it cracked.

Check to make sure nothing slipped. That happens occasionally.
I changed saddles back in like September. Same model, just a few years older but the way the padding had broken in bothered the hell out of me. Took so much micro adjusting for me to get it feeling almost right then about a thousand miles of riding to get it feeling natural.

Has anyone used a Peloton bike for standard, bike racer-type interval training?

I'm visiting my sister for Xmas and she bought a Peloton, which she says I'm welcome to use. Everything I can find online about it emphasizes that it's just like going to a spin class with some aerobics instructor in NYC blaring music and yelling at you to jump out of the saddle and other nonsense. I'd much prefer to use for standard interval sets but I'm not sure if it works that way.

There's a hot MILF with her typical bro bald crossfit triathlete husband who both use Peloton over the winter. She's pretty fast and so is he, they're not racers but it seems to work however they do it. They take lots of picture of their food and each other and it appears they each use the thing like 4 days a week, so YMMV. I bet it's fine to use for "something" during your vaca away from your trainer setup perhaps. From what I can tell each time you get on the thing there is an instructor to lead you through whatever the workout is. I always see the screen captures, the instructors look exactly like you think they should look young, fit, tattoos, hip and more attractive than you. I'm not sure if there is a create your own workout thing or not.

I've never used one myself, but I believe it can be used as a regular dumb bike (not hooked to classes) and I think I've seen people on strava riding outdoor video courses with it. I'll be away as well, the gym near my in-laws has a bunch of stages bikes, the one I used last time seemed pretty high so I'll have to try a different one and see if it matches a little more closely with my power

The bike struggle over xmas break is upon me as well. I want to try to knock out the festive 500, but I'll be on a cross bike with no functioning bottle cages bosses, 1x10 and v brakes. We'll see.

I moved into a new place in August and I have no water hose access. How do you guys clean you bikes who don't have access to a hose? I've been keeping the drivetrains clean but the frames are kinda gross.
