I'm using a flat-barred, single-speed'ed, 80's cannondale touring bike as my commuter here at UCSB. Fortunately we have really awesome weather most of the time, but I need to get about a mile in to campus, and don't want to get filthy in the rain. I know how to find fenders that will physically work with this bike, but I was just wondering if there was any sort of general consensus about which fender is the least ugly. I'm really more concerned with the rear than the front.

Honjos and Velo Orange fenders look the most ******, and they will fit in your touring bike. They will also keep you literally the cleanest as they are nice and long in the front so that water does not pour on to your shoes or spray your face and body with dirt particles.

on my beater, i use a cheap clip on fender in the rear and then in the front i've got 2 pieces of cardboard i cut out of an empty beer case and covered in packing tape, then zip tied them to the downtube. looks like **** but keeps me dry.

The cleanest would probably be full fenders, as they will protect you the most.q

FWIW that kind of fender will not keep you clean or dry in the rain... if you have a frame with no clearance and for some strange reason you must put fenders on it, they're slightly better than nothing; but they're much worse than full coverage fenders.

oh hey i have the same stem, i was wondering what size is your risers and stem? i had to wrapped electric tape around my straight bar to fit the handles fit in the stem.

electric tape doesn't sound like the preferred or safe method. Try getting bigger bars or a smaller stem if you don't like broken bones.

it looks nice but why do the silver ones have like a valley in the middle of it, unlike the black, which in pictures looks flat and glossy all around?





Makes me want to get the black somewhat, even though I think the silver will match my frame much better

It's just the way sks's are. It's actually clear up the middle. I don't know why. I passed on the black ones because I don't like how glossy black one are. If I could have found flat black ones I might have considered it.
