Question
I am going to convert my schwinn collegiate into a single speed. Problem is I took it all apart and realized that the wheels on the bike are 26*1 3/8. I know i want to convert into a more modern 700 c. will this fit? I don't have any brakes so i am just worried about frame Clarence will it fit?
Please Help

if you absolutely love the thing build it with 26" SS wheels, it can be done. I wouldn't bother with it in general really though, I might be mistaken but doesn't this have a 2 piece crank & kick stand braze on? I am sure you could find something else that would serve you better long term to convert.

O yea, def got the braze on kickstand, and two piece crank try a one piece... And I am kind of on a budget so another reason i want the 700s is to kind of keep price down. I just can find a lot of 700 wheels, i dont see a whole lot of 650 single speeds or even 26 ss, where would i buy them?

check ebay or see if your lbs could build a pair for you, but count on paying 250-300 for a shop build up

get a shop to remove the old freewheel from the bike thread a bottom bracket lockring onto the hub and then thread a ss freewheel on this should give you a decent chainline and costs less then $25
you can also buy those tires and tubes at most walmarts just make sure you buy the 26" schwinn sizes i.e. 26x1 3/8

Just a general note. The thread title "Question" is really meaningless. It makes the forum less functional. When you make threads in the future make the title relate to the content. Such as calling this one "26 inch to 700 wheel conversion"
