I've been tracking miles for the past 3 years and will probably continue to do so; however this year I will be using cycling hours as my prime stat. My logic is that hours are a better indicator of overall effort. For example, uphill miles take much time (and effort) but downhill miles take much less time and are kinda free miles. Another example is the miles on my light road bike are easier and faster than the miles I put on my 45 pound (loaded) commuter. I'm not sure what to aim for but I'm thinking 200 hours minimum. We'll see in 12 months.

I track my miles with Endomondo. My goal was 5,000 miles at the beginning of the year, which I successfully pulled off. Would have been a lot more but I dealt with illness and both November and December.

One of the perks of retirement is the ability to move around to enjoy biking where ever you please. For the past 5 years my wife and I have enjoyed that life style. We have been tracking bike rides for the past 10 years or so. But, 2014 represented a nice record for us in that we both rode 9,517 miles during the year. Now when you figure in the fact we ride quite slowly, an average of 10mph or so. That represents a great deal of saddle time! That's not to bad for an old guy (65) with CHF (congestive heart failure), an EF (ejection fraction of 20%, an ICD implant and on so many heart meds my HR can't get much above 100 bpm. BTW during the year we all over the eastern US and Atlantic Canada. As they say down here in Flat FL land "the good lord willing and the creek don't rise" we are hoping to get to the 10,000 mark this year.
Go forward and RIDE! oh and take the time to enjoy the scenery.

for goals, I never set a mileage goal. Since I have been introduced to riding CA doubles, I factor in how much work (either travel or on call status) will possibly affect training for those doubles. My normal goal is 5 aerobic workouts a week. From Oct thru the end of April, that is 2 5k run workouts and 3 cycling workouts. May thru Sept that is 5 cycling workouts.

I rode almost exactly 5,500 miles last year. Not sure how much elevation gain. Can someone tell me how to find that on Strava? The Strava Training Calendar shows total time and distance, but not total elevation gain.

First year to actually track rides. Ended up at 3549.2 mi and 120,511 ft. Not bad I guess for just going 'round and 'round an island.

3427 recorded from May 2014. Probably 300 or so unrecorded. The majority of those miles on a 29er MTB, the remainder (500 or so) on a Fat Bike.
Zero ridden/recorded in 2015....headed out now to set that straight.

3081. A few miles better than last year, but nowhere near the 4000 I hit in 2012. From the last ride of this year (earlier today):

My miles for the year? I have no idea. Probably between 8,000 and 9,000 ... a bit below the usual.
I don't generally set goals for the year, but I think I might do the Everest Challenge in 2015. I love climbing and love the Eastern Sierra, so it's a bit of a no-brainer. Besides, someone gave me an "Everest Challenge" mug some time ago, and I figure it's about time I earn it.

I did for the first time ever. I didnt have a goal but found I was just 15 miles short of 2,500 miles so even though I was sick I had to ride enough so I could say I rode more than 2500 miles not almost 2500 miles...my wife thought I was nuts. I wouldn't have had to if my second to last ride didn't have 2 flats (and only 1 spare). I hope to do more this year but again no goal...I know I have to have some things taken care of that will keep me off the bike for a month or so so I'm not yet sure how that will impact me overall

I rode a total of 5101 miles in 2014, with all but about 400 of it being on my work commute.
I'm off to a lousy start in 2015 with snow so deep that I can't even get my car off the property. Maybe I should have gotten a fat bike after all?

According to Saturday's e-mail from MapMyRide, 407 rides, 10075 miles, 522 hours. Holy cow, that's almost an hour and a half per day average time in the saddle. Probably should scale it back some and work a bit harder at my day job, but where's the fun in that?
I don't keep track of elevation gained, since my commute is pretty flat and accounts for 150 of the rides and more than 3000 miles of the total. I do count odometer measured trainer miles, even though I don't get anywhere, because I want to.
Goal for next year: debunk the old Greg LeMond saying and prove that it does get easier as long as you don't try to go faster.

1870 out of my goal of 3,000. Had to deal with some medical issues most of the season so looking forward to a good year ahead.

I ended up with a total of 9206 miles with 570:02 saddle time. I had to cut it back for the last two months of the year due to some health issues. I'm having a second cardiac ablation at the end of January so I'm hoping to be back up to speed shortly thereafter.
