Many 50+ First Annual Ride Pictures from DnvrFox, billydonn and Beverly (see posts and links to hundreds of pictures below) August 29, 30 and 31, 2009, Glenwood Springs, CO. Rides included the 44 mile (one way) ride on the Rio Grande Trail from GWS to Aspen, and the Glenwood Canyon Trail by the Colorado River.

I did not take many pictures, while Yen and Beverly took a whole lot. Hopefully, they will post them later. So, here are some of the pics I took, such as they are:

Breakfast meeting of the "Early Crew" Some folks get up and ride early, and like the cool temperatures (about 46F), others rise later, and ride later and like the warmer weather. So we had an "early crew" and a "later crew."

I forgot to remove my vest for the 50+ group ride photo.

Dinner was set for 6:00. Beverly, Jim, and I returned from our 66-mile ride feeling very grungy and sweaty a few minutes after 6:00. We threw our bikes in the rooms, piled in our car, and hurried to the restaurant.

You forgot to mention it took us 7 hours to get to Woody Creek and only 2 1/2 hours to return

I think we had on the perfect outfits for a 50+ bike dinner

The reason it took 7 hours to get to Woody Creek was because we stopped every 500 feet (according to Jim) to take pictures. And that's why I have 152 pictures from just that one ride to sort through. The ride back was a fast and furious non-stop except to hydrate, stretch, and check the map.

I agree on the outfits; everyone else was under-dressed.

Where do you live along the Katy Trail? Friends and I will be riding the trail Sept 11-16 starting in Clinton and working our way toward St. Charles.

Some things could not be captured in pictures. We (Beverly, Denver, Nora, Jim and I) stopped for coffee in Carbondale (photos in Beverly's album include the bathroom sign "Bano" and movie theater next door). As we were unlocking our bikes in front, a young gal drove by in a pick-up truck and yelled "I love your shirts!", then gave a thumbs-up. Of course, she was referring to our 50+ jerseys.

No I'm in a suburb of Houston Texas. I wish I was closer, but I'll be in Minnesota when you are going to be there. I went to Alaska just before you Colorado trip so funds were getting short. I want to go to the Cycle Fest in Fort Davis in West Texas next year in the Sept. that was a lot of fun as well. Anyhow, maybe some other trip we'll get together.

I took a quick glance and thought Katy Texas was Katy Trail My eyes are a little tired after driving all day.

We sort of had an "early group" and a "later group."

Due to the great differences in desired speed, length of rides, intensity of rides, amount of pictures taken, etc., it was natural and appropriate for us to have different groupings from time to time.

One group took 7 hours for 33 miles up (and 2.5 hours back), stopping for many pictures, a visit to Carbondale, etc.

Yes, you could have kept up.

I was going to do the Ft Davis cyclefest but instead am doing TROLS https://trols.doubledates.com/info.shtml ride with my bride on that weekend. Maybe one of these days.

Bev--Katy Trail is also the trail out of north Dallas to the suburbs...same old rail line, but in Tx.

We are thinking of doing Katy in Mizzou after the Tennessee Tandem Rally in Nashville in Jun-10.

I would have loved to do the 50+ gathering but it is after school starts here in the south. Also, it hit the HHH weekend. Maybe next year.

I got the same comment from a group of riders while my wife and I were riding the Canyon Trail. I was waiting on her to make it up "No Name Hill"........that is actually the name of the hill and the rest stop alongside of it......
