Pedaling with a few guys on Shelter Island, and for just a fraction of a second, a seagull landed on my buddy's handlebars. I'm still amazed he was able to stay up right.

About 30 years ago I had a pheasant fly headfirst into my chain rings. I was riding on the wheel of another guy and he flushed the bird straight into my bike. The headless body ended up in my lap at about 20 mph. It took all 4 of our water bottles to clean it up. I (and my bike) was covered with blood spatter and feathers. The guy I was riding with couldn't stop laughing at the look on my face.

A pick-up truck coming the other way....going very slowly, with a horse's lead tied to the back bumper, and the horse walking along behind it.

I rode through a swarm of grasshoppers/cicadas while in Utah. The strangeness of the sound of mass death by bicycle spoke was only surpassed by the mess.

Stark naked woman by the side of the road, being photographed by another woman. Worth the trouble, IMO. Bikes are very quiet. They saw me, blam, back in the car. It was a nice rural scene, beautiful field in the background.

Thought of another one. Guy coming toward me on the other side of the road riding a bike with aerobars. He was down on the bars, and had a good-sized gray cat stretched out on his forearms, facing forward. The cat's eyes seemed very wide open. He was probably doing 20.

No wonder it's so rare to see a pheasant in Eastern PA anymore!

Saw this picture yesterday so it naturally came to mind when I read your comment. For the full story: Spring carnival 2016: They're dreaming of a Caulfield Cup upset

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears...in...rain.

I was riding on the sidewalk in front of the strip mall which contains my gym, when I saw an awful apparition reflected in the windows .....
